Click here to read more. We suggest printing a copy to show the next pissed off resident who wants to complain.

Yes ma'am, but according to Major Conroy.........

This is no surprise...the last couple violent calls I've had at Eastside they didn't come out on. Line officers photographed crime scenes and collected evidence. Apparently they don't come for shootings or stabbings either.

Outside special circumstances, did CSI ever respond? Now I don't have to come up with some BS when the victim asks.

What happens if the county gets back in the black?

Sounds like a scarce tactic to me.

Many Burglary Detectives have been trained on how to dust for prints. Guess they are gonna have to finally get out there and do it. Currently they only have 3 experienced Inv's working shifts and then being on call every 3 days. Several years ago they were talking about Crime Scene having their own lab and getting away from using the GBI and now they have cut 13 positions and are only going to have 5 CSI's. Leave it to Dekalb County to be moving backwards instead of forward. HANG ON CITIZENS, IT'S ONLY GONNA GET WORSE!!!!!!!!!!!

Give officers a print kit, a blood kit, and a camera and let them do it.
Unless its some major high end burglary or a violent crime then why not?
Hell half of the violent crimes are people who 8 months later aren't going to want to prosecute anyways.

Anon 9:33,

You talk as if burglary detectives get called out. Yeah right.

When's the last time a burglary detective has ever been called out? They are right up there with auto theft detectives.

How hard is it to say "lodge 'em and put a copy of the jail docket on my desk"?

Can ANY supervisors do actual police work anymore? Time to step up and start taking on some other responsibilities with everyone else.

This is old news. Crime scene has not been responding to things such as 45s and 42s, pretty much anything nonviolent, since late last year. I remember I found out last September when I had a 42 with over $10000 worth of stuff missing including about five guns. I called crime scene and they said that they were no longer responding to any property crimes due to budget....yeah old news...why are we just now getting on it?

No more CSI on vehicle break-ins?? WHEN was CSI EVER 10-7 on a veh break-in? Hell, when does a PATROL UNIT go 10-7 on a veh break-in...ONLY WHEN THERE IS NO SCREENING. and CSI on 42's?????? I'm confused on this article..... somebody clear this up for me, maybe I'm dreaming.......

Are you kidding when i left dekalb and went to a real department they gave me a print kit and a class on how to lift prints. Takes me 5 min to lift my prints on burglary calls or entering autos. This is a line officers job not CSI!!!. Just poor management as always in DKPD.

Many of us should put the blame on Mr. Crooked Emperor Operator (CEO) and bunch crooked cronies. He was one who gave the appearance of knowing everything about the job of CEO better than VJ. Everyone was sucked into him getting elected because we all thought that this was the best person for the job since apple pie. Unfortunately, someone forgot to turn the oven on!

Mr. CEO & his bunch have made Dekalb County a poor excuse of a county to reside and work in. He has managed to keep employing useless parasite employes who sleep on their fat butts in county vehicles on county time (sometimes on overtime) and cause those hard workers to lose benefits and have furloughs.

Ted Rheinhart is another high ranking idiot who doesn't care about fixing the infrastructure of this county uinless it will benefit him. Potholes, sinkholes, ripped up sidewalks, major sewer problems and spills on a daily basis, etc just to name a few.

All of the above downgrades this county so bad that homeowners and businesses are moving out faster than they are moving in
.
The Northside taxpayers pays deeply so that the Southside taxpayer (if any) can snub their noses in the face of the Northside.

This county needs a new stronger type of government whose main objective is to lower taxes, provide high quailty services, with people who have the county in mind instead of their wallets and being erected on pedastals.

Public Safety is the first priority in any jurisdiction, and in Dekalb County, it should be number one.

We, as taxpayers, county employees, non county employees should have the pleasure of knowing that this county is as safe as possible without the fear of a murder every day or some kind of mayhem in and around our areas.

All we can is pray, hope and wait that the current type of government will disappear in the next election.

Here is the facts.....
CSI currently has only one shift. 1000HRS to 2000 HRS. They are generally on call three out of there four work days for 14 hours. So between 2000HRS and 800HRS they handle stranger to stranger rape, officer involved shootings, homicides, and signal 50's at the CID Sgt. request based on the condition of the victim. So that being said burglaries and auto theft calls have not been handled in over a year. They have been working with only a handful of people. They would love to be able to respond to everything again, whoever with all of the cuts they are over worked just like everyone else on the force.

Maybe this is where the CEO "found" the money to keep Wiz Miller.

**Correction** Here are the facts....

So what's up w/Conroy being the PIO these days? Since when did that become part of the job for the rank of Major?

Anonymous said...

I dont wish ill will on anyone but wait until one of the commissioners, CEO or any of their staff member become victims of crimes that CSI does not respond too. Hell dont just print out the article to pass out but provide Conroys work and cell number for victims to call. It is easy to make changes when it does not effect you.

To "When I went to a real dept". What is your call volume in that "REAL DEPT" that you now work for, two or three calls a shift?, that you can lift prints, do the paperwork involved, transport the print cards to the latient office then go back in service. Just shut the f-up. Its not the officers handling calls job to do that. Only in very small depts, like the one you probaly work for now... You left, great for you, stay off this site... Its not for you to voice anything anymore...

to rookie 3:05 "that you can lift prints, do the paperwork involved, transport the print cards to the latent office then go back in service" . explain that to a dekalb citizen who's house was ransacked and burglarized good luck with that. The finger print class is 2 hours long. finger print kit $25.00 keeping up your service to civilians your protect and lesson complaints , priceless!! Or you can just come out with the lame excuse like its to much work ,good luck with that.

Anon 3:05PM is right. Only very small departments, like Atlanta Police, have their officers lifting prints at crime scenes.

Before you post, make sure you know what you're talking about!

To "Real Dept", go away plz... Its not uniforms job you ass..... We dont even have enough officers per shift to handles call and you think we should do even more with less. The people in Dekalb County get what they deserve for letting the BOC do what they do to public saftey... Thier houses will continue to be broken into and they will still be robbed and murdered and thats becuase of who the Dekalb citizens vote into office, I.E. D.A.'s Office.Commom case in Dekalb.Ok you killed someone but it was because you were mad, abused, didnt have a father, had a father, but he was in jail, parents were drunks, druggies, "PROBATION"... I will leave as soon as I can, but am not a rookie...... Hey "Real Dept" Why did you leave here,, and why do you care what goes on here anyway.. Guess you lied to yourself that you work for a "Real Dept" and want to come back HHHaa your a joke.. Outta of here ASAP....

Actually, there are eight investigators working in the Crime Scene Unit. They have three stupidvisor and four investigators along with two sworn personnel. How many supervisor does it take to run an eight man unit? They can respond to burglaries, shootings, and car break-ins. The stupidvisors are just lazy. I feel sorry for the tax-payers of DeKalb county. If they become a victim of crime then DPD cannot provide services to assist with investigations. They can attend communities meeting opposed to responding to burglaries. I bet, if they work for DeKalb, they would respond to process a scene. Folks, you believe this stuff if you want too!
CSI gets paid to process crime scenes, so get to it! It is not the role of an officer nor detective to do their job!

With dozens of auto burglaries in this neighborhood, NEVER has a detective shown up much less a CSI sometimes no officer at all.
We are now in Chamblee. At the last burglary five cars came incl. a detective.
CPD was in this neighborhood more in two months than DKPD was in thirty years !

To Anon 508.....
Out of those 8 investigators how many are fully trained and capable to actually handle crime scenes on their own....hmmm..since you actually now what is going on in CSI. And 8 investigators is not enough to handle everything that occurs in Dekalb County you idiot! Also upper management selected three very good supervisors....not stupidvisors as you refer to them...so rude!
