I think they are trying to scare the public. We do not need a Public Safety Director. He only goes in the direction of what the CEO wants in each department.

We waste more money every day in our operation of work.

We need to look at the ones who are on call with take home cars. Just how many times a year are they called into service? The expense is not justifying the cost.

Just think of someone furnishing you a car and gas to come to work.

I pay 400 dollars a month in gas now diving to work.

Apparently no one needs Dekalb County. Get ready to apply at the new Brookhaven PD coming soon.

Mark Winne is clueless. Ask some real questions or get your butt out of DeKalb.

Yep, gotta staff every rank from ground up and you can advance quickly with new dept. I'm sure Brookhaven PD won't mind taking all our recruits as Atlanta has either.

Recruits?.... now why would Brookhave bother with untrained , inexperienced recruits... they can cherry pick our best

Mark Winne lives in DeKalb , in DKPD jurisdiction ! That makes him a taxpayer ! In DeKalb !

Looked at the interview, and thought Winnie's questions ridiculous along with Millers self-serving answers.
Just how is Miller proposing to fix CADS? Why has he not already implemented a fix for CADS previously?
It will require a lot of cash to fix CADS. Data base consultants cost about a thousand dollars a day. It would probably be easier and more effective to build a new system with a reputable vendor and documentation to fix the system if it goes down.
In theory DKPD should have the cash available from the 911 telephone fees. My understanding is that the money is being diverted to the general fund.
DeKalb government and DKPD is in the big leagues. Continuing to hire vendors that do not have the experience in high-volume applications is a grave mistake as seen with CADS and the Recorders Court software. If DeKalb wants "World-class service" they are going to have pay "world-class" prices. Its better to pay a higher price upfront than deal with crappy, slow software that slows productivity and could get people killed.

Correct me if im wrong what would having a separte spot on the tax bill for PD do. Fire has had this for a while now and the commision still cuts there budget back. It would only make sense if the commision could not touch these funds and all of them went to PD. But I am concerned they will find a way to fund a social program with PD funds some how. I am calling on the Blog to look into this and post the pro's and con's on this items.

there is no economic base to support a city of Brookhaven
There is no ground swelll by the public to form a new city,
Dunwoody does not want this area and Chamblle had the opportunity and turned it down, because there is no commercial base to support the required services

Lo Flyer once again you show your ignorance
No many is being diverted from 911, but dont let the facts get in the way of your BS

Anon 10:57. My understanding is that there is a considerable amount of revenue generated by the 911 fee's far above the operating expenses of the 911 center.
I suggest you do the research and present the facts of the matter. If I am wrong then I will admit it. I also do research and am unafraid of admitting when I am wrong.
One thing I do know is CADS is screwed up, needs to be fixed and will take serious cash to fix it.

For the comment made by Ms. Parrish. The citizen's safety may not be in immediate danger, but the processing of or lack of processing a crime scene will result in minimal to no prosecution of the perp(s).

Not to mention which would result in the perp(s) not being apprehended, charged and convited. Ohhhh, wait, that will compromise the citizen's safety. Not to mention, this will not be providing the citizens of Dekalb with services that has been and can be available.

I like Wiz, but it was just proven in the past 8 years that the county can be ran without that position. Nothing personal Miller, but it's just the RIGHT thing to do. If you really care about the citizens of Dekalb, you would step down.

LoFlyer,

You seem to be very good at research. Here's a good one for you to look into. Did Wiz have a copy of the police captain's exam? Did he ever have a copy of any fire promotional exam? If he only wanted to review the police captain's exam but not any fire promotional exam, then why? Why review one department's promotional exam but not the other? Was there an agenda for doing so? Im sure this information isnt too difficult to find out.
