This blog page was established so DeKalb County Police Officers including their family and friends may have a place to hold discussions, post news and vent without fear of retribution.

I think Vernon far exceeded his goal here
The U.S. Census says this about DeKalb County for 2009:
Black Persons 53.7%
White Persons 30.5%
Hispanic Persons 10.9%
So with this information in hand, are they still looking to call blacks a "minority" in Dekalb? I think it's kind of a strange twist of logic that whites can still be considered "majority" when their numbers are much less represented in both population and work force.
Am I "racist" for pointing this out?
America and race...a love hate relationship...new decade, new century, same shit, new players.
wow
Ouch....no wonder I'm often the only white guy in the room.
The amount of time one spends employed at Dekalb directly correlates to their intellect and abilities. In other words, look at what remains.
Ken, many thanks to you for making this public on the blog. If it looks like a duck, walks like a duck & sounds like a duck, it's probably a duck- These figures speak for themselves...no rumors, no innuendos..no speculation...just the hard, cold facts. Guess white people who apply for jobs with DeKalb County just can't meet qualifications. Unbelievable but no surprises here. The out come of the Fed's discrimination case was right on the money.
Is this really news to any Dekalb employee?
OK, lets raise hell, march, march, march...I mean April, April, April..Im a white guy, I gotta get this minority stuff down and go with it ;-)
No its not that white's does not meet the qualifications, they do not apply in high numbers. I work for a department in the county and see the numbers first hand. I think its good to show the racial make up of county employees but also don't hide behind a blog. If you have an issue about how any promotion process went be a man or women and speak up. If it is wrong then it's wrong somebody will listen if you are right.
This cant really surprise anyone. When I interviewed for a job back in 1982 I was told flat out that a decision on hiring a white person or a black person had to be made. I remember leaving thinking what kind of place is this that would admit such nonsense. Well I guess they decided white because I did get the call. 28 1/2 years later I left.
One MORE reason for class action promotional testing suit. You only have 2 years guys/gals to file so better get on it. Major out East can tell you how, that's how he got promoted.
The ironic thing is that the numbers game that is forced upon everyone is the very same that will bring this house of cards down. EVERY officer fabricates stats in order to stay in good graces and this is known and being looked at under Federal light since they ultimately report these statistics. Supervisors know it is occurring and will more than likely be the ones who ultimately suffer the most from this investigation.
How many Lts actually enter all of the citation data completely with regards to race tracking? Numbers are greatly skewed at Dekalb not only intentionally but mostly from neglect and laziness.
Ummm so what...I could have told you there are more black people than white people working for DeKalb County. What great revelation does this prove? I guess I just didn't realize that this is what LoFlyer was talking about. Rather anti-climatic I must say, but maybe that's my fault.
Anon 3:45, why apply when Vernon and Stogner were pushing out whites, a FACT proven in Federal Court!!
I wonder what the numbers look like in Cobb and Gwinnett? I bet they're the opposite. Maybe Loflyer should have collected some apple to compare to the apples that he collected in DeKalb.
BTW, Black are still a minority in GA and the US.
%#&$*@ I accidentally deleted a long post of the results of my interview with Director Ransom, so this will short and sweet.
Director Ransom was courteous and professional.I won on the small stuff and was only partially successful on the big issues.
I am reserving my opinion on the subject upon further discussions with Director Ransom.
Comparing Director Ransom to Joe Stone, she is about a 300 percent improvement.
This will take some reasoning and discussion to resolve, but at least we are talking, and that's more than anyone dared under Vernon Jones and Joe Stone.
Best of luck mates!

After reading the report i thought about when Auburn administrated the first promotional test. We were told that gender and race was not going to be on the test. The day of the test we were advised by Auburn that by federal regulations it had to be. Will, when the results came out someone broke down the ratios of gender and race, low and behold it came out just as if a magic wand was passed over the test scoring. Look whats happened to Dayton OH with there hiring process. They had to throw out the test because no people of color passed per DOJ, Holder. I dont care what color a person is if you dont deserve the job/position you shouldnt get it.
Agree with anon 4:52. Not a surprise. What would be informative is to see the racial makeup of leadership roles in the county!
77% black. What is racist about that?
So why does the county see the need to practice affirmative action and promote less qualified and capable blacks over whites?
In DC, affirmative action should be used to help the whites out rather than the blacks. With these numbers they don't need any help.
Having taken the departments BS Auburn U promotional test and after watching downright incompetent blacks get promoted, I am convinced that this place and in some respects this country is doomed because of "them". Stupid "white guilt" laden policy makers around the country have inevitably "dummed down" this society to the point that many inner urban areas such as Dekalb County are literally imploding.
The only thing you can do is move away and not live with them or ban together and start your own city like we here in Dunwoody did.
BTW....Brookhavens next!
Scary. Glad I left.
To anon 3:45 P M: any suggestions such as names as to whom that "somebody" you refer to that will listen might be? Have lived in this county 38 years. Worked for DeKalb public safety over 6 years..have written letters to the BOC &. CEO for years as well as have spoken before the BOC on many, many issues. Even campaigned for Ellis which was a first for me. Have had petitions signed in support of our officers. Did it do any good? Nope. Guess that "somebody" you refer to that will listen just hasn't made him or her self available to the public as yet. Any other bright ideas?
Good work LoFlyer..
Now if can you find out if Wiz had a copy of the Captain's exam, and if so, for what purpose. Better hurry, his girl is about to get promoted - assuming she can qualify with her firearm!!
Auburn also said other agencies use a point scale for education, experience, evals, etc. for placement on the promotional list. Not Dekalb however, makes it too difficult to manipulate placement by current method of dropping questions in order to cater to people they want promoted. They think it will never be discovered.
Anon 3:45PM, saying white people don't get hired in DeKalb because they don't apply in high numbers is like saying guys have a tough time picking up girls in lesbian bars because they don't go inside and try!
Some people are just smart enough to see the writing on the wall!
The Florida Highway Patrol has been using race and gender as a top reason for promotion for about 15 years now and the agency is literally running into the ground. The average trooper stays less than 7 years which is UNHEARD OF in most state uniform agencies.
Same with Dekalb. Why would anyone with half a brain subject themselves to working in such a shitty place.
Go work for a city police or another county and you will be a lot more happy.
Okay....so the numbers bear out Vernon's "darker administration" goal that he hinted at numerous times and voiced while visiting North precinct.
So now what?
Life goes on and the BOC does what it wants. Nothing will change.... we can either deal with it or move on.
Personally, I've got too much time with Dekalb to bail now.
Anon 1032
I agree! Someone needs to ask Auburn the tough questions concerning Wiz and Vickie Logan. Everyone talks about it behind closed doors. It should be easy to look into. Did Wiz Miller, or Dale Holmes have a copy of the captain's exam? Chief O, get your head out of the sand dude! You know what's up!
Ok then why does these numbers do not reflect supervision in Special Operations, CID and Canine. It's not a level playing field for officers of color. go figure. fix that first than you can bitch.
Anon, 9:33am, if you're not getting into specialized units, I'm guessing your poor English skills have more to do with it than your skin color.
Anon 9:33
Exactly!!! The peasants are black, but the leaders of most of the coveted units are white: bombs, swat, special ops, ia, backgrounds, trt, 4 out of 5 precinct commanders. honor guard, major felony, etc..
It's too bad all of the people crying about how bad black employees have it don't have a federal court ruling backing it up like white employees have. Even black employees testified there was an effort to push out white employees.
Hey Anon 4:03pm, why don't you name some more qualified people that you would put in charge of the units you complained about.
Anon 6:13
You have missed my point. Im sure the whites running those units are highly qualified, as I would hope so. The point is that whites control those units, and controls who comes to those units, and controls who ascends to positions of power within those units.
Whites are the minorty period, Vernon did just what he set out to do.
Make it a darker administration!!!!!!!!
We all see what afiirmitive action accomplished in the world, ineptitude within the black ranks.
No one and I mean no one should be promoted based on color, but only skill.
I guess my white ass is just buying time around here.
I would love to comment on some of the posts, but I have some initatives in action that require me to stay silent.
On the political front I have little hope of success, on the administrative side I am hopeful.
This will all play out in a couple of weeks.
Patience mates!

LoFlyer you are the bomb.....I for one appreciate all the efforts and crap you are taking trying to get the truth out there for all to see.
