Numerous Police Cars Broken Into

Numerous police cars awaiting repair at the new multi-million dollar fleet maintenance facility on Memorial Drive was broken into. The dollar amount of damage and theft is not known yet.

If you've ever had the opportunity to visit the facility, then you know all this could have happened.

Its located in one of the worst crime ridden area in the county. They bought this place 10 years ago and finally moved in this year.

Why do you think a dealership sells and move? Crime and area going down the drain. Who would and still shop in this area unless this is the best they can do at the present time.

DeKalb is going down the tubes.

From what I heard it was 27 police units and the rest were "siezed" or under cover cars/CID for a total of 70 vehicles. News media pulled out about 1815 hrs. Smashed out the windows.

Come One...Come All!!!..Down here at honest John's Used Cars we have you a great deal on used police equipment....slightly used but still in good condition...if you don't see what you need...let us know and we'll get it next time!!!

Only in Dekalb!!! LMAO!!

Hey you don't think the apartments next door could be where the perps live.

Maybe we should have moved it to a safer place........like Candler Road!

BTW where was the security guard that the county chose to pay to watch the place?

Just wait they will assigned a beat car to guard the location. We waste more money protecting the worst places the county buys from someone else making the money.

This place buys the shit holes of the county for future investments.

When will they learn?

"BTW where was the security guard that the county chose to pay to watch the place?"

He was at Burrell's house.

What do expect from a lot that only has a chain link fence thats as old as the property when it was an olds dealership. The apartement complex next to it is full of thugs. The area has three hotels close by that is like candy stores for drugs. The homeless roam the area like they are on vacation. Thats only west of the facility,if you go east on memorial dr toward village sq. there are several real fine apartment complexs(lol)and a club that we never had problems from(lol). The county real does it home work on purchasing property.

Hell, headquarters will be next anyone can walk and drive back there without being challenged on who they are.

Good thing we don't have: Gun Racks, the secondary guns to go along with them, decent (non cheese dip stained)seats or even FM Radios in our cars!

You can thank Liane for refinancing and giving tax credits to the next door complex. It was largely vacant and under foreclosure during her watch. She also helped push through refi deals on the former Englewood complex on Central.
Start following commercials foreclosures in the Champion and publicize them here. These hellholes need to be renovated the proper way, ie with bulldozers.

Maybe they stole the aging laptops..... that would makevthis a plus.

@ 12:07 Are you an officer, then you challenge anyone who you think shouldn’t be back there. Get a life and quit shifting the blame elsewhere. Take some pride in the place you work.

@12:5 Who stained the seats with cheese dip? Most likely the fat, out of shape, tub of lard that sits his ass in there without getting out and doing his/her job. And why would you want FM radios in your car? It would just interfere with your portable DVD player you bring in to watch movies while you are cracked out behind a building not doing your job.

No alarm, no cameras, no nothing! This could happen at any precinct over night. Hire retired officers to patrol all precincts at night. It's really a no brainer.

You just have to laugh at this one...

A police station should be a secure location, any perp can walk back there now and take revenge on an officer. The fact is an officer shouldn't have challenge people in the back lot of headquarters where we bring prisoners;have equipment and officers keep pov's with weapons and other items.

I can't believe what I am reading....perps breaking into police cars....
Must have been the Cop that called for a back up at Sam's Crossing and Covington Hwy.... Ya dummy thats East College.
I will tell you it isn't just the county that's gone down the hill the quality of the Police officers and their knowledge of the county is unbelievable. Don't let the super bowl or other event happen casue they will find a friends house to hide behind and take in the big game !!!
Ya know just because you get a job that includes a badge and a gun doesn't mean you have ethics class, or good judgement. Proof, look at the last Chief of Dekalb and comments he made. Then how about the Sheriff thats in jail.
You know what the problem is, there is no SHAME left in the world. People (this includes law officers) ought to be ashamed of shamefull behavior.
The world is gonna get worse I fear to say, when our Peace Officers fail to hold the standard what do you expect from the public?
