I still think about you. Rest in peace Step. You are still missed.
I got chills seeing that post! RIP, Step! We won't forget you!
It was never a question on who went through the door first when Step was here...if you were talking about it...then were left behind....a cop's cop...RIP Brother....
Step will never be forgotten! We miss him everyday and always will.

Rest in Peace .....you were always there to answer my rookie questions.... . And stop to check on me when you drove up on my stops on Covington and Memorial Drives.
Step never let this place get him down. I remember when they tried to run him off when he was working South.
He kept his head up through it all, remaining a very well respected officer.
Something we all could learn from.
The man, the legend. Step was the cop that a cop's cop wished he could be.
THERE WILL NEVER BE ANOTHER LIKE STEP......your spirit and strength are missed.
Step,
You and I sometimes did not get along, but I always respected you. You were truly one of DeKalb's Finest.
RIP BRO
The old Center Morning Watch. "The Wolf Pack".... RIP,Step!

Although you policed while I was still in grade school I think about you everytime I patrol. There's a store I pass by all the time where your widow works. I never have the courage to go in and introduce myself but I always wish I could to hear stories about you from the person that knew you best. I've been with the county just over three years now and it feels good when new officers ask me for advice. I always tell them to visit the officer down website and read about every Dekalb Officer on that site that has been killed in the line of duty. Do whatever it takes to make it home to your loved ones at the end of the shift. I know you wish you could have made it home that night but rest assured the young generation of officers policing now remember you, appreciate your service and sacrifice, and keep you in mind while on patrol to make sure we come home at night. Thank you for your service sir...
If you are on FB theres a tribute page for Step there too. I keep his picture on my ticket book.
When Step ran into some trouble at south, he came north. He Explained himself, rededicated himself, regrouped and moved on and moved up. He did a hell of a great job. Step is a good example of how to recover and move on and move up. One of a kind guy for sure.
Gone but never forgotten...my friend...You were a Great Officer and a Great man...
You were something that the bums who run this county don't and won't understand. An example of what to be and how to be it. I know that your family will never be the same but I pray that they take solace in your work and legacy. You will always be an example to us and always be in our hearts. I know you have watch over heavens gates.
Good one 3:56..outstanding
If there is a SWAT UNIT in heaven your one of the chosen ones.
Thank you for who you are and the history that you left us with.
