Good job Avondale PD.

Once again the AJC shows how anti-police it is. The "victim", "Officer shoots, kills man"? How about "Officer defends himself against a criminal and saves the lives of citizens"

A Job well done. Thank god you are safe and alive.

Isn't it great how the AJC calls the perp the Officer shot the "victim".

LOL

Well isn't that just special. Hoorah

HERE IS MERRIAM WEBSTERS DEFINITION OF VICTIM: a (1) : one that is injured, destroyed, or sacrificed under any of various conditions ** NOTICE IT SAYS-UNDER ANY OF VARIOUS CONDITIONS *** So, YES the person who was shot and killed IS a victim-Perp or not. Glad the officer was not harmed in the line of duty...but all the hooorah's and good guy points-> IMMATURE-to say the least.

1:55,

You're right. We should all offer the perp a big hug. We should all hug his family too. I'm sure they're all fine, upstanding citizens with clean criminal histories. Maybe we can all sit around a campfire banging on drums and sing Kumbaya.

919am...AGAIN immaturity. In this line of work you will meet face to face with perps-yes, you will be faced with life and death situations-kill or be killed-yes, but public safety is not a baseball game. All I'm saying is by definition YES the perp who was killed is a 'victim'. You all seem to think the word victim carries some sort of emotional attachment. He's the victim of a shooting-period. and whether or not his entire family are perps have nothing to do with it. The officer was faced with a life/death situation and he chose to live-bang bang you're dead. Bag him, tag him , write the J2, etc. and move on. Again, all the high-fives, 'good guy' points, 'home-runs', and hoooorahs etc is juvenile, because I'm QUITE sure that 1 dead perp has drastically changed the crime rate in that area and through out the county. YEEAAH. Grow up and get over yourselves it's what we signed up for. Do the job, do your best and make it home after each shift and if that means laying someone to rest then it is what it is. BTW, I love camping and campfires, let me know when the next trip is.

1:55, 10:05,

I think us winning is worth celebrating. We'd be mourning if it had turned out the other way. Why not celebrate a good outcome?

12:17, Thank you for being tactful. Yes, you are correct...we would be mourning if the situation had turned out differently, however, does this 1 killing (or any other killing) of a perp really constitute a 'win' for DKPD? I just want all of us to be and remain vigilant.. I can appreciate a hand-shake, pat on the back maybe for this type of situation, but like I said the other antics are just childish. Killing is part of this job, and everytime a perp is shot and killed it should not be a 'hoooorah' for the department as if we 'won'...some of the small battles may have been won, but I prefer winning WARS. Be safe out there..

1:55 and 10:05,

It sure sounds like the SOB was an "attacker" or at least a "suspect." Those are two words the AJC could have used. The reason the "victim" was a victim, is that he made himself one. But like somebody has already pointed out, they are liberal hacks and have an agenda.

Crawl back in your Websters and let the real police enjoy the fact that one of their own came out on top of a life or death confrontation. We'll call ya when we need a word looked up.

AJC internet headline a few days ago: APD officer attacked by Phillips Arena.

I wonder how long it took Phillips Arena to get off its foundation to attack that officer?
