There are two routes that make sense:

1. the Detroit option, cut back on responses to 3's....
2. Continue to respond and start CHARGING FEES for false alarms after an initial "grace period" of 2 or 3 in a year and giving leeway for storms that jolt the entire area.

Option 2 looks like a revenue generating plan that should appeal to the fiscally challenged who can't stay within a budget.

I see a better idea hire police part-time to respond to signal within a city either in a unit or security vehicle putting more police on the street helping out us and the community. Residents may pay extra charge but what do u expect burglaries are up. Protection cost money we don't work for free.

Anon August 16, 2011 1:30 PM,

I agree mostly. But negative for weather. Keyholders can check those. It's no mystery when bad weather is approaching or present. Alarm owners should plan accordingly and be prepared for a call from the alarm company.

Use retired DKPD Officers who fulfill their 20 hours a month service to County in order to work extra jobs.

How about we collect on the outstanding alarm fines that are already out there? You know the several million dollars in fines that no one bothered to collect...kind of like all the fines that "disappeared" from recorders court...

Has the county ever finer someone for a false alarm?
