When is Uniform going to get Take Home Cars?

Everyone in the department has a car but uniform officers.

People who are never on call and are not first responders have a vehicle to drive to and from home.

Lets make it fair for all.

Nothing left to say. It's over.

This department has never valued its uniform division. This command staff is no different!!!!!

Blogmaster, I think a web link to a rolling web page that runs parallel to this sight for CONFIRMED DKPD and RETIRED OFFICERS AND DISPATCHERS would be a good thing. Sometimes I sit and wonder whatever happened to some of the good folks I used to work with. We have no actual physical base, or building, to work from or to visit other than this virtual world here safely away from the maggots in Decatur. No one I know wants to travel all the way to Stone Mtn to the FOP "clubhouse" and we are scattered all over metro Atlanta and the southeast trying to avoid Dekalb County as much as possible. A board where retirements, deaths, marriages & divorces, and "what ever happend to so n so" could be posted. I know some of the folks I used to work with I never want to see again BUT some of them i'd like to keep up with. I am retired now and it would mean a lot to me and some others I think.

Thanks for reading.

Chief William OBrien spoke on Tuesday at the State Capitol of Georgia. It was during a hearing on the creation of the City of Brookhaven. The room was full to overflowing and was one of the larger of the hearing rooms.

You can be proud of your Chief. He spoke very well and touted the Best Qualities of The Force.

The Chief spoke of a Proud Force able to react to anything in a swift manner.

I am one citizen that knows that the "books" of DeKalb County are balanced on the backs of The Police, Fire and Sheriff's Dept's.

The CEO and BOC continue to carry bloated staffs and live lives of "The Rich and Famous" while you guys get what's left for putting your life on the line 24-7-365.

So ! Two thumbs up for The Chief and a Semper Fi for your hard works !

Now get out there and make your Chief and the Citizens of DeKalb even more proud with your hard works.Be safe in all that you do.

Thank you, pass the red wigglers...

Now when do I get my intervention?

Backgrounds-PAL- Aides- all have cars too.

I agree on the take home cars for uniform. They deserve something. In fact this could save on the wear and tear of the vehicles and would boost morale to a great extent. In addition allow the Officers to take the car to their part time so they could transport their own j1s. North Pct morning watch spends a great amount of time transporting j1s for off duty Officers. I cant see any negatives about issuing take home cars. Now is the time before we lose more Officers.

Run, Brookhaven! Run.....

I go to roll call 4 days a week and see things from the street level. The view is a little different than the one you get from the window of a 4th floor office behind access controlled doors.

Run Fast!

As a resident of DeKalb I'd like to ask why PD seems to be going ahead with the new precinct near PDK. I understand that before the likelihood of Brookhaven incorporating, it seemed like a good idea to relocate to that area. However, when Brookhaven becomes a city, Chamblee and Dunwoody scoop up any leftovers, and Doraville is maybe able to round out its borders, there will be no need for a North Precinct. Did PD and the County get stuck with this land or can they get rid of it? Or is the idea now to go ahead and build it and then sell it to Brookhaven for their new PD station?

Uniform take home cars???...you gotta be kidding me...they drive them like they stole them!!!...oh that's right...let's total a few BRAND NEW ones out that just came out of the motor pool....that's why!!!....then you moan and groan and bitch about it!!!!....go look at the ready line....or better yet...speak to the ones that work on the units. Facts are facts....Uniform beats the sh*t out of the cars...you know it and I know it...so quit your bitchin and leave your unit clean at 10-42!!! oh that's right again....it's miller time...just let the next officer clean up your mess.....it took me 25 minutes to remove all the freaking trash out from under the seat to find the gas key in one unit...another unit was covered in ants because of all the food shoved under the seats...when you learn to take care of them..maybe...just maybe...the powers to be will listen......trust me...they're talking to motor maint. about the units...and that's exactly why uniform doesn't have take home cars!!!!

I'm with you. Years ago when we were hiring qualified officers I was behind this. But now with the perps we have wearing badges? hell no. They would do like that thug Cuffe in the sheriffs Dept did years ago that killed D Brown, thransport 28 to sell in a marked unit. I dont trust half y of you fricking rookies now days. Non driving, non policing stupid thugs. Go back from where you came. Those of us that have been wearing this badge with pride and protecting the citizens will clean your crap up long after you have been fired or quit. So piss off. At least let 10 year vets and up have them.

You better believe take home units would be taken care of and last longer...You can take that to the bank...Cause that's all you will be able to take...To the bank that is...Haaaaa

The PAL unit is the biggest joke in the department!

Get a clue, you have no idea of what you speak of. PALS don't have take home cars, nor does Ford, Fraser, Ice or Williams. The only aides with cars, are the Chief's, the Director's and Chief Holmes aide.
Now your right that Backgrounds does and so does Accreditations. Go figure. You never know when you might need an emergency background check of an applicant at 2:00AM or the need to know if what you're doing is an approved Calea standard at 3:00AM.
Green and Gaither have take home cars; too. When was the last time you saw either of those guys coming in at 3:00AM? I can't think of a single time.
Uniform is at the bottom of the pile on the car issue. The officers that are exposed to the most risk day in and day out receive absolutely no consideration at all.

I'm not sure about Backgrounds but Accreditation only has assigned cars, they can't take them home.

Are you kidding me...Another Dekalb officer on Ch 2 News ? Too many officers are tarnishing the Badge. Maybe the Chief should revaluate each officer across the board now ?

How does one keep his job with 200+ hours of suspension time and a major's recommendation that he be terminated?

Higgy has rubbed me wrong more than once but, it sounds like he got this correct and attempted to make this department a better place. Kuddos to him!

10-12 for salary reorganization i.e Fulton County. Seventy thousand plus annual salaries are about to be no more so that Dekalb can survive financially. I guess car washes and wing stands can only bring in some much revenue. Freeze it if ya got it.

Does anyone know if Wiz has a girlfriend taking the test this time or will it be fair

Does anyone else think this supervisor questionnaire from Auburn for the promotional exams is the most ignorant crap ever? Who comes up with this mess?

Anonymous said...

Anon 1:07,

Yes I agree. The survey is the absolute worst thing I've ever had to do here. It is insane!

Anonymous said...

Yes, the Auburn survey was and is a piece of crap.... useless questions that took 4 or 5 hours to run through. Will this go the route of the study done on Dekalb government and the salary survey????

Nothing worse than wasting time on something that you believe is worthless and will NOT be used to help the department.

Anonymous said...

Here is a sample question from the Auburn survey pertaininng to being a police supervisor: the ability to coordinate the use of two limbs (arms, legs). Is it essential, important, somewhat important, or not important at all? Wtf? We actually pay these idiots to come up with this?

Anonymous said...

Why are male supervisors fired for sexual relations with subordinates, but female supervisors just get transferred to another precinct?

Anonymous said...

It is taking most supervisors 7 hours to complete that Auburn survey. Let's total the cost of manpower hours it is costing the county.

Anonymous said...

Why are we still using Auburn for our promotional exams? The integrity of the exams has been completely detroyed. It's all about WHO you study with! Why does every Chief here need a copy of the exams before they are taken? You see what just happened with the Atlanta Fire Dept's Lieutenants exam!
