In Line of Duty Police Officer Deaths Up 75 Percent From 2008

Thanks to the liberal courts, predators have no reason to fear the justice system for killing the very ones who uphold the law.

They have no fear of swift trials ending with a death penalty that is swiftly carried out. In these days, they are literally tried by a jury of their peers.

The killers of Wade Barrett are alive and well living in prison for the rest of their lives, we hope.

The killers of Barker and Bryant have not even been brought to trial after 4 years.

The execution of the killer of Stepnowski was carried out on the scene, may Lucas Palmer rot in hell.

Dekalb County Police Officers:

Please know that there are some citizens in the county that appreciate you. I know that sometimes, it seems like the world is against you.
My family and I pray for you all to be safe everyday.

Romans 13:4
For he is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not bear the sword in vain. For he is the servant of God, an avenger who carries out God's wrath on the wrongdoer.

They keep saying that violent crime is drolping, but I'm not seeoing that reflected on the street. Our murder rate is up this year...I've been on the scene of four fatal shootings since the beginning of the year. Also I agree with this article...it never ceases to amaze me what I see on criminal histories. These perps have armed robbery, agg assault, and even voluntary manslaughter charges, and they're out walking around on PROBATION! Really what happens in the system is a travesty that undermines what we do everyday.

crime is off the chain, summer is just around the corner. Remember guys hurry up and handle your calls, we are short staffed and need you to write more tickets to fund our meals, while we increase your insurance and pension costs, while decreasing your pay

Its one thing to know someone is guiilty and its another thing to prove it. If each case is investigated properly and evidence is presented from what I know that ass is going to prison. It takes work on our part as police officers. Oh I said it takes work, never mind. Just keep pointing fingers don't pay any attention to the four pointing at you.

Thank you for your kind thoughts.

I love how people get on this blog just to start shit. You can have all the evidence in the world and some will just get probation. That's a fact, especially in Dekalb County. All I want to say is that the fact officer deaths are up is alarming, but not surprising. I've already watched one friend buried, I don't want to do it again. I pray the thin blue line still exists because you all need each other out there. Be safe!

It doesn't matter how hard an officer works or doesn't work to effect an arrest. Once you have probable cause and make the arrest, the case goes into the hands of judges and district attorneys. Serious charges are brought against perps and the judges and district attorneys continually give light punishments through plea bargaining and other loopholes. Therefore yes I do feel a need to complain. When officers bust their asses and put themselves in danger to arrest people, and the system fails in following through, it makes hard working officers question the risk they put themselves at to make arrests if the perps are going to be released anyway.

The DA's office is understaffed and underfunded that they MUST nolle prosse half the cases just so they have time to work on the major ones.

DA's in Dekalb have hundreds of open cases each and must prioritize which ones to prosecute and which ones to drop.

Guys....being an officer for more than a few days with the county.....I'm a believer of....don't get yourself into anything you can't get yourself out of.....officers funerals.....I've been to 98% of then in my 20+ years.....

I say that to say this.....yes it can go south in a heart beat......but if you have been to training with the practical shooting training.....there are officers dropping the weapons and going the other direction....not only this time...but the last time we did this training at the old juvy building......a few even crawled up in the fetal position....one even turned and dropped the weapon and was caught saying..."i don't want to be here......I don't want to be here........I guess he was trying Zin method......

The quality of officers is not what is used to be.....some to half are here to collect a paycheck......the stories could go on & on......but remember.....10-42 is the key...meaning....you're able to go home to your family at the end of the shift....that's the main priorty....'

So ...do not get your self into something you can not get yourself out of......I love the action...I love getting into the thick of things and defusing the situation....either by seperation or I'm 10-15.....but the big red cape does not stop bullets coming my way.....nor does the big "S" allow bullets to bounce off.....

Be safe...God Bless those who still care and believe in our job and that we are trying to make some sort of difference in the county that we work for.......

I'll close with this.....we went to weapons with more capicity...not bad...but we all know it is placement that counts(if we have to go that route).....I miss the .45 Long Colts we had......Semper Fi

If a poor job is done by PD. Don't expect a miracle prosecution.

Anonymous said...

Dear 3:28 am, don't make us start naming names and embarass your office. Career criminals with slam dunk cases are routinely given probation, even when they're already on probation.

Anonymous said...

@ anon 3:28
Don't expect a decent prosecution if PD does a thorough job either. You can go back to making plea bargains now.

Anon 10:53 and 11:49. You mean to tell me a person charged with a major felony crime ie: murder, agg assault, rape, child molestation etc will receive probation? Really? Perhaps you should call someone with a law degree next time. The governor of this state has proposed a program in this state, Georgia, that will offer alternatives to jail. You can find factual studies that show that jails are not the answer when it comes to petty crimes. All that money you pay in taxes should not be used for that. Since a non liberal governor has eyes to see alternatives. Why is it difficult for you to see the good use of alternatives? You seem smart by your statements. Several factors are considered when it comes to putting people on probation for the crimes mentioned above. It would seem that you would support the GOP Governor, he's not liberal or is he? Or does he see a way to think out side the box? If a good detailed report is done and the investigation furthers after PC. I bet you will get better results. The courts take what is given to them to work with. Its sad chicken salad has to be made out of chicken shit. Then you point fingers. Well ser we take what you give us only a few give us there best. You read this blog. Do you think we get the best? I rest my case. You blame liberals for the problem. Can you honestly do that? Just food for thought.

Anon 11:59, fine, let's have a go at it!

Christopher Lamont Sellers. DeKalb County case number 06CR2919. Prior to this incident, he had 15 arrests in DeKalb County alone. As a convicted felon, he and a buddy did a drive by shooting at a park in DeKalb County wounding 6 innocent people simply enjoying a day in the park with their families. How much time did Mr. Sellers, a convicted felon with a an assault rifle shooting 6 innocent people get in DeKalb County?? 5 years of probation, 3 years to serve in custody, with credit for time served!! You can try to KILL 6 people in DeKalb County, and only get 3 years to serve in prison, with credit for time served. If this crime were committed anywhere else in this country, he'd be rotting in prison for the next 30 years. Instead, he's been arrested 6 times since serving his time for trying to kill 6 innocent people!

Get your nose out of the air before it rains and you drown!! There's a lot of well informed, educated people wearing badges who know what they're talking about!

Anonymous said...

Anon 4:50 you said something. He and a buddy used a rifle to shoot into a crowd. Can two people shoot a rifle at the same time? That's a question. Did you as the detective interview each witness or only the ones that let you write a statement for them? Did each witness see and identify this guy or was his "buddy" do the shooting? Tell the whole story not just part of the story. Tell what evidence you collected. A prosecutor can only work with what you give them. If you think Judges, Prosecutors and Victim's aren't frustrated with this you must be on meth. What you fail to realize is we are on the same team. If you fail to seek advice from a Lawyer this is what you get. I noticed you failed to address the new initiative the governor is starting, I understand he's a liberal.

It's called being a party to crime, a co-conspirator, which makes you just as guilty as your associate. If the detectives handling that case did such a crappy job, why didn't the defendants insist on going to trial? If it was such a weak case, any decent defense attorney would have told their clients the state had a weak case, take it to trial, and walk free. Instead, they took the state's weak plea bargain offer.

Nearly half of Georgia students entering a tech school in Georgia require remedial reading and writing classes. Those are the students bright enough to get into a tech school. Now imagine what it must be like to get a statement from someone not bright enough to get into college in Georgia. Most of these perps are lucky if they know how to spell their own names. Half of them can't even tell you their address.

Anonymous said...

Its funny how people make blanket statements and when hit with facts they take you other places. Anon 3:46. When you have a weak case if you can get something out of it you will. The more you have to bargain with the better it is for the state. That's the term where the term making chicken salad out of chicken shit. If you are interested in making good cases I challenge you to visit the Solicitors and District Attorneys Office for some good advice. Help them help you. Anon 3:46 Because a perp can't read or write bears no reflection on me. This paints a pretty picture for a jury, ie is a perp is speaking street slang and you write it using correct english and grammar, you just open the door for more petty arguments. It seems this conversation has changed lanes I will leave you with this fact. When a Police Officer is Killed in the line of duty in DeKald who do you think is called for assistance? The District Attorneys Office. Ask your self Why? Its because we all want that case prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law . If this is done in all incidents you will have the prosecuting office on board and you can receive some good advice while making your case. This will prevent a light plea and probation. I promise you this, the county would not have to defend detectives because. Of the Pin Up's murder. You won't have the attitude let the District Attorney figure it out. "One call that's all" put your pride aside and ask someone so a good case could be made. What a lot of you fail to realize is every incident is different. They may have the same title but the scenario is totally different

"I challenge you to visit the Solicitors and District Attorneys Office for some good advice."

Careful, you still have that nose dangerously high up in the air! It's very easy to Monday Morning Quarterback from your nice air conditioned officer Monday through Friday 9 to 5. Get over yourself! You act like every DA and Solicitor graduated Magna Cum Laude, when nothing could be further from the truth. If YOU want to learn how to prosecute cases, maybe YOU should do a ride along with PD for a while, and I don't mean for a few hours one night with a Sgt. Take off your shiny shoes or heels, put on some boots and ride in South or Tucker precint for two weeks on evening watch. Maybe then you'll have more of an appreciation and an understanding of what we have to work with to send to your office.

When did this thread become a liberal vs conservative issue? And since when did aggravated assault and murder become petty crimes? The point here is that violent offenders are being allowed back onto the streets and more people become victims as a result.

Anonymous said...

Careful what you say about people at the DA's Office having their noses in the air and sitting in nice air conditioned offices, especially since you are so far off base about them. A good many investigators are ex-DKPD and dedicated LEO's, so I doubt they would need a ride-a-long with you to see what goes on out there because most of them have been there done that. It works both ways. There are good and bad employees anywhere, but to think that you actually think that the DA's Office sits around and figures out ways to reduce cases you are sorely mistaken. The criminal justice system is screwed up. You have an overwhelming workload at DKPD, DA, Solicitor, whatever, and there just are not enough of us. So quit making blanket statements about the DA's office. It actually infuriates me quite frankly. What, you work shift work so you are the only person that works hard? People that work 9 to 5 dont work as hard as you? Idiot. Oh no wait, there is Air Conditioning at the DA's Office, boy, they are really spoiled. Give me a break. You get over yourself. We are all on the same team.

Anonymous said...

Anon 11:38 I see no need todo a ride along. You have totally missed the point. Anon 7:43 the Blog Master blames the liberal courts for the increase in police officer deaths. The reply was to address that statement made. You simply received some good advice and took it the wrong way. I'm sorry you and so many like you, lack the ability to think outside the box.

Anonymous said...

If we're all on the same team, then quit acting like the only problems come from PD! No one ever said anything about the investigators in the DA's office, so learn to read. It's the ADA's and the DA we have issues with! In addition to doing a ride along with PD, maybe you should do a ride along in Gwinnett or Cobb's DA's office! They send more people to prison each month than DeKalb AND have a lower crime rate. Coincidence?? I think not!! No place is going to be crime free, but it is well known that in DeKalb or Fulton, the worst case scenario is you'll walk away with probation, unless your crime made the news at 6. I can name perps that are career criminals in DeKalb, but have never spent a day in prison from a DeKalb County court. Other counties have arrested and sent them to prison, but afterwards, they come back to DeKalb to commit more crimes and get probation! No, not everyone needs to go to prison and some people just need help to make better decisions. That's not what is going on in DeKalb. That's why we have such a high crime rate!

Anonymous said...

No need to do a ride along? That's right, I forgot, you know everything! You couldn't learn anything by actually getting your hands dirty! You're like an archaeologist who spends all of his time in the library reading books and thinks he knows more than an archaeologist who actually spends time in field digging, doing real work and getting hands on experience!

"Hug a thug" isn't going to reduce your crime rate. It's only going to attract perps from areas that actually prosecute criminals and send them to prison.

Now Anon 9:43 and 10:00 you are making emotional statements. The county's you named, have very good relationships with the courts that prosecute cases. In these counties its obvious you need more then PC to successfully prosecute a case. Perhaps you should do a sit along in an office so you can for yourself what is needed to SUCESSFULLY prosecute a case. Maybe this scenario will help the narrow minded thinker. Cars are manufactured at a plant. All materials needed are at this place (uniform/CID). Once the car arrives at a local dealer(Solicitor / DA's Office) and the its determined its a bad product a few things happen. The car sits on the lot, the asking price is reduced (plea / probation) the car is returned to the manufacturer to fix recall problems (Uniform/CID). My point is this. If you want Rolls Royce prosecution stop doing Pontiac work. I truly hope you get my point. We must all work together in order to put these criminals in the proper place. I will end with this a person is inocent until PROVEN guilty. In 90 percent of cases police officers encounter the alledged first. Be careful out there.
