Don't Forget Picture Day!

Yes children, it's that time, it's time for picture day! So be sure to wear your finest and have your mommy press down that cowlick.

Seriously, the department believes there is a need for a yearbook. Probably a good thing to have around, just like the ones in the past. But the big difference this time is the yearbook is being funded by the department, not individuals like in the past.

Because the department is in charge, it's mandatory that everyone participate by having their picture taken. But we have a question. How much money does the department/county stand to profit from this yearbook? If there is a profit, what will the money be used for? Will it be placed toward a academic scholarship for the families of our fallen, or put into the general budget?

We have a sneaky feeling the department was guaranteed a dollar amount from the publisher and that is why it is mandatory we have our picture taken. They probably are counting on a profit from the pictures or figure if you have your picture taken, you will go ahead and buy the yearbook.

LOL, is this a police department or high school? I can see photos of officers placed in a plaque in a public building for public viewing. But yearbooks, LOL! What's next a DKPD prom? Patrol Officer skip day?

Just take the dang picture!!!!!!!!! It doesn't hurt anything and Buy a freaking yearbook. Have some pride in your department. Yes they lie and cheat us out of what is deserved but are you a police officer because of the money or do you go out there 24/7 to attempt to make a difference. If its for the paycheck then you don't need to be here in the first place. If your unhappy LEAVE!!!!!!!!!!!! GET OUT!!!!!!!!! GO AWAY!!!!!!!!!! Oh wait you can't be the PERP officer that you are at other departments outside Dekalb.

Why can't they just use booking photos?

I'm okay with the photo, it's the DNA I'm worried about...

Fire did the same thing and the cost of each book was outrageous.

I didn't see a thing in the original email that said mandatory. Don't see how they can make a yearbook mandatory!!

I still have mine from the early 1990's. Glad I got it too. As fast as some folks come and go around here they really need to do a yearbook every year. Trust me folks, get the stupid thing to remind yourselfof your time in hell. When your old and sitting with your grandkids, you can show them pictures of the officers you worked with that got killed, fired, resigned, or the lucky few that made it to retirement.....like me.
