Officer Involved Shooting

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution

A man armed with a knife was shot and killed by DeKalb County police officers early Sunday morning.

The man pulled a knife on three women at a Chevron gas station in the 4400 block of Glenwood Road around 8:30 a.m. Two of the women flagged down two police officers at an Exxon gas station across the street, according to DeKalb County police spokesman Lt. C. Rorey.

The two officers, one who was in training, approached the man at a business next door to the Chevron station and gave him repeated instructions to drop the weapon, according to Rorey. The man didn't drop the weapon, and instead, came at the officers, Rorey said.

"Both officers opened fire on the suspect," Rorey said. He was taken to Grady Hospital where he later died, according to Rorey. Police have not identified the man who was fatally shot.

Here we go again. Don't let DA James hear about this as he might want to get an indictment.

We cannot have DCPD officers going around and shooting sorry ass fucked up people who come at us with blazing guns, knives, axes, spears and the like.

We have to be trained very well at what we do, have our department stand behind us 1000%, and not let some scumbag destroy it all because he or she was high on some crazy drug or whatever.

Troops, be careful out there, make sure the bullets are fresh, gun is cleaned, and hopefully the handcuffs will be used more often than the bullets.

Maybe the perp was an Occupy Chevron member?

Amazing how the press can find the one person to interview, that says. I don't see why they had to shoot him, couldn't they have just talked to him and taken the knife away from him...or something like that...This is the same guy that will blow a guy away for talking to his woman at the night club and dissing him in front of his home boys...Yet he wants us to talk to him and risk him shoving the thing through our throat...Gee go figure...Dumb ass? or not? I am given 45 rounds, I am not afraid to use them...All of them if necessary..I can buy replacements..Just saying..

Glad the officers walked away in one piece. I know the officers involved have got to be a little traumitized at least mentally. No thinking, feeling human ever wants to shoot anybody, the shoot was justifiable and rightous. I know you guys will talk to the officers and talk through the mental issues both must be facing.
The Glenwood corridor has long been a crime area. I understand there are apartment complexes in the area that even you guys don't want to approach. This needs to be cleaned up. This has been going on for way to long and DeKalbs rulers response is to allow DKPD officer manning levels deteriorate to the point where there are no longer enough officers to do the job.
Instead DeKalb rulers are concentrating on Aqua-parks and Soap-box derby money losers.
Insanity.
Best of luck guys and gals!
To the officers involved, you did your jobs and went home in one piece. Well-done!
