What Has Been Rumor For Years, Now Appears To Be True

Corruption in DeKalb is out of control. It appears the planning department has been taking bribes. This has been a rumor for years.

How much of the money was being kicked up to Vernon when he was in office? Maybe he's still getting kickbacks. Vernon went into office making about $32,000. a year being a telemarketer, and came out of office a very wealthy man.

This has been mentioned and brought up several times. Both the business license department and planning and development department operate on a pay to play process. Give me cash and you can have any license you want even if it is out of the county code. As an added bonus they will block or delay potential new competitive businesses and order the Police off your back. As a business owner in the community who speaks for many who are scared to come forward, I have fallen victim to this already. I believe it has been mentioned on this blog before. One of the main campaign contributors to the BOC owns several of these night clubs. Lu Lu Billiards, Noa Noa, La Rumba, Eschelon 3000, etc..... Clerks at the business license department have pocketed thousands from this guy for favors. How can a member of Planning and Development re-define a county ordinance without going through the law department who actually wrote the code. Easy it is called a "favor" to help a paying business owner trying to squeeze into compliance of an ordinace he is violating. We will see how many come forward on this to save prosecution.

Thugs, Thugs and more thugs. How would anyone in DeKalb County Government expect to have the trust of any citizen. Police. Planning, B.O.C. My only question is when will the Feds disband this theft ring masked as a government. And then people wonder why Brookhaven wanted to get as far away as possible. Hell who wouldn't. And these are only the ones who got caught.

Old news...well to us at least. It's always funny...people on the street make bs complaints about officers everyday and supervisors and IA have to entertain their lies and bs, but then something about corrupt money dealings comes out at the govt level and they say they'll investigate, but never do...because they already know what's going on and need a new way to cover it up.

NICE... Soon listing DeKalb on your resume will be an automatic dismissal. Though I believe that ship has ALREADY sailed.

Anon 9:21, thanks for your comment. As a county retiree I am ashamed of some of the stuff going on in the county.
For any reporters lurking, Anon 9:21 has given you two departments that need investigation. I'll give you another one, the county purchasing department. Do I have any proof? No, but my gut-instinct says something going on, I know of a couple of purchasing agents that are total sleaze-bags, and I have learned to trust my instincts.
As for Stognar, I have watched him flat-out lie to my face too many fracken' times to trust him. I would say more but as I am not anonymous on this blog I could get myself in trouble.
Another point, Stognar saying the county will audit the department is total BS. An audit would reveal if an employee is ripping off the county, not ripping off the citizens.
How can the county employees and citizens stop this corruption by the employees? If anyone has solid, valid evidence of corruption then write to Sallie Yates, the Georgia assistant, attorney general and detail your evidence. (I love Sallie Yates because she will investigate anybody) You can also try the DeKalb DA's office for a complaint. I wouldn't expect much, but you never know.
My other piece of advice is that the feds insert some under-cover agents as employees in the county departments accused and expect a long six month investigation to uncover the corruption.
A county audit nots going to catch anyone, and only give the citizens a false sense of security.
Best of luck guys and gals!

OT, I don't know if any of the rest of you on this blog are getting a message box at the top of your screen, but I am, I clicked on it, get a quick two second video, and then a notice that I need a new flashplayer to play the video. This made no sense as I already have a flash player that played the two second video. being a naturally suspicous fellow, I googled the URL d75.newsplayfree.com and came up with some minor hits for sales but never could find the website and eventually ended up on Scamalert and they only gave the site a confidence value of 53 percent, the Domain name has only been registered for 7 days and they are not sure exactly whether the website is in the UK or the Netherlands.
A 53 percent trust rating is not good enough for me and I advise you guys not to run the flash download.
If someone has downloaded it, then let us know what your experience is.
Thanks,
KenC

To 0921 you hit the nail on the head. This is brought up over and over and as someone who works in this department I hope the investigation looks into this issue. The DA needs to look into this and other activity in Development and Planning. The complaint of greed and corruption is deeply merited and it gets old watching the same players get everything that they want while other businesses wait and wait playing the games of zoning and licensing. The business owner that is in question has had licenses changed several times without as mush as a glitch in the process. Issues seem to magically go away everytime he or his staff enter the 2nd floor of the 330 Ponce building. Wendy Saltzman needs to approach this angle and ask for all of the records regarding these businesses.

It's at all levels in that department, even the secretary demands that contractors bring her lunch and gifts in order to get permits and inspections. Many have complained but the higher ups sweep them under the rug.

Even though all of this is probably true, Eric Woods was fired for assault on one of his employees. He also verbally threatened a DeKalb Officer assigned to the lobby of the building. All of this was well documented prior to his firing. The sad thing is that what he is alleging has been going on for years, but it went on under his watch also.

Since we are on the topic of corruption..... a traffic stop was made the other night and the female had a suspended license. So an arrest was made. A retired Asst. Chief arrived on scene and demanded that his son's girlfriend to be let go."NOT"!!!! Upon arrival at the Dekalb County Jail she was taken into intake when a deputy took the female from this Officer and walked out with her, yes out of the jail and was never processed. Hmmmmm We arrest our own but an former Asst. Chief is able to get his son's girlfriend set free. I can only imagine who all is involved in this. Where the heck is the Feds??????

Its has been going on for hundreds of years. More so with counties outside of the metro area..... Its called business..

@ Anon 6:14pm, that's not what the News stated. He stated he was fired for un-covering bribes and corruption. RICO

Anon 7:39, name some names and alert the media! This needs to be flushed out. If an officer dropped off a prisoner at the jail, that officer should have a copy of the citation to turn into Recorder's Court, as well as the officer's copy for proof. If that person didn't end up in jail, then someone has a lot of explaining to do!

Anon 9:21 has it right. Wendy only needs to request copies of the letters of entertainment on LuLu Billiards. There are several by the way. This license should have never been issued because it did not qualify under the grandfather clause. However when cash started flying a license was issued. Wonder how many employees got paid for thus one.

Its funny how Mr Stogner didnt mention anything about turning the investigation over to the Police Department. Maybe because it has already been investigated and found to be true but the findings were kept secret.

Anonymous 7:39…why do SE just name the retired assistant chief ? And some past investigations he has blocked as well ?

I really want to be interested in this development but unfortunately this type activity has never been limited to DeKalb. It goes on everywhere business and government intersect. A Gwinnett commissioner, an Atlanta mayor and a Morrow city councilman and former city manager are a few of the more recent elected officials to get arrested on corruption charges. The feds, the state and local have continually pass on acases like this . Some very clear and public evidence is needed to get someone in the F/S/L trinity involved.

I remember when DEKALB COUNTY used to be "THE CROWN JEWEL OF THE STATE OF GEORGIA" when it came to county government. This county had the best property values along with the best school system, and most important, the quailty of life.

It seems that all this has gone by the wayside and nothing but shit, crooked office holders, and crud has dramatically taken over. Presently, this county is one very large mud puddle and is getting bigger on a daily basis. Maybe it is time for the Feds to come in and clean it up and replace it all with some clean water.

So the CEO's chief of staff has gotten a new job outsidethe county hmmm. Will he step down from the county or will he double dip?

Selling yourself out for a cheeseburger, its more like a taco at El Matador. For those of you who know what I mean then you definitely understand the first post. Maybe a new location for the christmas party this year may be appropriate. We don't need to be part of the problem in this corruption chain. The above referenced owner definitely pays to play in DeKalb Co. Ask why P.D. was directed away from his club recently when North went to enforce the county codes. One call that's all!

A post was submitted with names in reference to Anonymous 7:39. Why is it not being shown?

You guys wait and see the 5-10% decrease in pay across the board is coming towards the end of the year trust me you will see!!!

Please stop talking in riddles. I'm tired of trying to guess the bad guys. Either name names or stop posting.

Anonymous said...

I didn't know Mr. Herbert worked for DeKalb, he lookin for the paperboy?

Wow sell you self out for a taco? What is it that you do? You kept officers out of the club you work at from checking permits. Did you get suspended? You should have been fired. You are a disgrace to this department. The club you work at El Tenapa is as crooked as they come. The owner sells drugs right from behind the bar in plain sight. Makes fake 911 calls on other business which has been proven. Just ask the old owners of El Padrino. Prostitutes run wild inside its like the wild wild west in there. I don't see you crying about them! You will get caught soon and pay the piper. Like I said you are a disgrace to this department you act like a business owner upset but everybody knows its you. Quit being scared and use your real name instead of an anonymous business owner!

NAMES NAMES NAMES, in reference to Anon 7:39's post the incident took place in Tucker Precinct. The officers involved made a lawful traffic stop on retired Deputy Chief Farley's son's girlfriend who had a suspended license and suspended registration. An arrest was made, as it should of been. Mr. Farley arrived at the scene and started making demands for the officers to release the woman, and her car. When they refused he began making threats and causing a scene. When that got him nowhere he demanded to speak to a supervisor. But he couldn't wait for one to arrive so he called Chief Holmes, who called down the chain of command.

As this was going on the officers cleared the arrest with their supervisor and transported the woman to jail. Once they arrived the woman was quickly walked from intake out to the lobby by a deputy. When the officers asked what was going on they were told a call came from higher up to handle the incident the way they did. NAME given, KK Jones. Remember him.

Mr. Farley strikes again. When he couldn't get the officers involved to violate the law he had his friends inside do it for him.

9:50 PM, isn't funny how he thinks nobody has figured out his scam and who he is yet?

"Oh muh gosh! I wonder who is making all these post"

What an asshat! I wonder if he gets paid extra from his part-time for making all of these posts?

Just name names already! I've got money riding on someone related to 84% of Scottdale!

To Anon 10:30,

The reason is, you have posted several comments about the same subject. You are being redundant.

You have made your point.

Be safe.

Farley was/is nothing but a perp. He was doing the same shit back in the early 90's. He's a perps best friend. I got tired of hearing his name everytime I had a J-1. Follow up with it, only way to try to make a real difference. KK Jones was also a big joke in the 90's, real dumbass. I know, truth hurts.

Dale Holmes?? Again?? The guy who stopped in the investigation into his secretaries car reeking of weed, then started an investigation into the officers involved? The guy who sidelined the K-9 officer's dog that alerted on her car?? What's this make, twice in three months Dale Holmes has interfered with a criminal investigation?? Can this guy just do whatever the hell he wants?? Oh wait!! His name came up during the Stan Watson drunk driving incident too!! Why is it that just about every time there's something crooked going on, the name Dale Holmes shows up?

And you would think ppl are afraid in Planning but it's business as usually in the planning department.

Anonymous said...

Remember this name: Deborah Nsirim. She is a zoning officer with the planning department. She is in the back pockets of several business owners in DeKalb if the FBI doesn't know that already.

Anonymous said...

Remember this name: Andrew Baker is the Associate Director of planning. He drives a 2012 Dodge Truck, 2012 BMW 7-series, bought a brand new house, go on Carribean vacations, and wears expensive cloths. Mmmm, all that on County salary, we don't think so.

WHY IS IT THAT THE OWNER OF THIS BLOG WILL LET PEOPLE POST NAMES OF COUNTY EMPLOYEES IN OTHER DEPARTMENTS THAN PD. IF WE ARE GOING TO AIR OUT ALL THE DIRTY LAUNDRY WHY ARE YOU KEEPING DIRTY POLICE OFFICERS NAMES OF THIS WEBSITE? YOU WILL MENTION DALE HOLMS BUT NOT ANY OTHER OFFICERS WE HAVE WROTE ABOUT ON HERE. SHAME ON YOU!!!!

To 533 pm from having just visited that building it looks as if they have issued a lot of permits!

Anonymous said...

All of you who stand by and witness this shit and do nothing are just as bad.

Please call FBI Atlanta 404-679-9000 and ask to talk to someone in the public corruption unit.
This is exactly how they caught the Gwinnett commissioner and her son who were making hundreds of thousands from contractor kickbacks.

When you witness crap like people being walked out of jail without being processed or fingerprinted you need to call the FBI, they cant do shit about it unless they know about it.

The kickbacks and fraud have become so normal in Dekalb that's it sickening.

When the County can't afford to give raises, it good to be Andrew Baker's friend. Baker's admin assistant title was upgraded to admin coordinator for more money. That was a cleaver move Andrew Baker! I been around you too long and nothing amazes me.
