Why all of sudden is these ideas popping up creating new cities with Dekalb County? Basically, the reason is simple.

First, because those blooming idiots on the Bunch of Crooks cannot and will not ever try to save money for any reason. They are always crying poor, but spend money (they don't have) on stupid immaterial things they do not need.

Second, The Bunch of Crooks appoint themselves to positions on the commission having various titles (which realistically do not mean squat) just to make themselves more powerful.

Third, that little pip sqeak (The Chief Embellment Officer) comes up with these stupid ideas (such a soap box derby) that no one except his brats will use and will abandon it after a few spills.

Finally, we, the taxpayers are tired of shelling hard earned dollars so these individuals can sit on top of their pedastals and look down at the taxpayers called "little people" yelling for more money.

Lets get a movement started and go back to the old form of government and get rid of the commissioneers and that CEO.

I am done for now, but I will return............

There are may comments here that say all we do is bitch and moan on this blog. Thats because nothing we say that is constructive that could possible change this place is totally and historically ignored by those who run the place and that is how it had gone forever. You see us now complaining but that is has been for ....ever I guess....this blog is the first tme we have ever been able to make out thoughts public and yes, it is as bad as you read here. A great police department and county have been ruined.

I bet the next Chief is from APD.

It was sad to see Chief Obrien leave and it was even worse to see him trade his character and morale’s in to become a spineless puppet for the criminals who run this department and this county. I have to agree with a lot of people who watched him transform into someone who proved to us all he was only in it for the money and retirement he could get and the power to promote his friends. I worked with you in uniform and watched you become a very well respected man and leader in this department we were promoted together and I considered you a role model for all officers coming up in the department. I am truly saddened by what you became and how you were corrupted and how you allowed your staff to intimidate and be so corrupt. You are no different from the last three chiefs we had and in some ways you are worse your so called friend have already started stabbing you in the back and trying to get themselves aligned with who they think can help them now. It’s funny to watch how certain majors and asst chiefs are talking about you hoping they will be able to keep their jobs and maybe be promoted. I wish I could work on movie sets and at shopping centers and the CDC and get paid by the county and the extra job at the same time but when I asked to work I was told its all taken I needed to just take care of my watch and be a good supervisor and example for the troops. Well I am a good example I am not a criminal and I’m not being paid for jobs I am not at. I hope and pray our new chief cleans house and they need to start in cid with the asst chief who can’t make up his mind if he is going to be a minister and treat everyone equally or be like his buddy the major and try to intimidate them and talk down to them and make jokes about how dumb people are this coming from a freaking used car salesman who has only been promoted because he use to work out and beat people up with the chief when in uniform.
Please god help uniform and get rid of Chief Holmes who can’t make a decision unless wiz miller tells him what to do and how to do it. Uniform is so screwed up with officers fighting and supervisors writing each other up and snitching on each other. The major over special opps is an idiot and special ops is so unorganized it’s crazy the motors are off more than they work and we need a chief over special opps who is not afraid to make those guys work and help out uniform some times. The special opps chief is too concerned about the investigation with the watershed department and I hear she should be worried. I am just ready for a change and I would like to see someone from the outside that won’t promote their buddies and won’t let the commissioners bully them. I will just keep my sgts in line and be a role model for my troops and be what I have always been a Dekalb Couty Police Officer.

Hey blog master, can you give us an Open Comments section. So we can give a little feed -back to the so called "leaders" of our department. In regards to the "effective immediately" e-mail that was sent out in regards to "roll call" procedures that are being implemented. Take your time cause I need a couple of days to stop laughing, no crying, before I put my thoughts on the matter in writing.
When I think about the problems this dept. faces and this is what the leaders that are making 80/90/100 k a year in salary are coming up with as solutions. God help us. No God please send us someone who knows how to be a leader...Give us a chance. Surely I'm not the only one with thoughts regarding this issue.

Pension: the BOC needs to wake up and smell the coffee. Good officers leave because there is no reason to stay. The pension that kept officers fom leaving is now off the table because we haven't seen raises in YEARS!

The BOC needs to due a need want analysis and spend money on needs.....quit blowing it on wants.

I for one have NO problem with officers looking professional. I have always been one that thought you are judged by the public by the way you look in uniform and how you carry yourself the second you step out of that patrol car.
I work with a team of officers that are inspected every day and they don't even know it. I don't have to make it formal in order to get the job done. I SURELY don't have to make roll-call a dog and pony show to impress the brass. Why is a Lt. needed at EVERY roll call. If they have something to contribute then they are more than welcome to show up. But just to be there. CHILDISH.
I can assure you that by bringing my dress cap to every roll call and/or even wearing it during my shift WILL NOT MAKE ME MORE PROFESSIONAL. Nor will it make me (if I am inclined) from doing things criminal while on duty or off. In fact most perps wear hats to cover their face. Just saying.
Oh yea let's not forget the stupidity of calling the room to attention when small minded, large EGO men and women of the rake of LT. or above come into roll-call. REALLY you guys/gals need your ego boosted that much. Not to mention how this drives a wedge between the ranks..WE ARE ON THE SAME TEAM AND NEED TO WORK TOGETHER. You guys/girls already split the department by never being seen, being the only one with take home cars, getting all the top dollar extra jobs, shall I keep going? Come on brass leave your EGO'S at home. There is no place for them at the office. WE ALL KNOW WHO THE BOSSES ARE. Just do us a favor and start acting and thinking like one. Do what is good for the dept. and stop thinking of yourselves. I don't even want to address why we would need to call the room to attention for a CITIZEN. REALLY GUY/GALS pull your head out of your ===!
It surely is sad to think that Chief O can't even get officially retired before you 'LEADERS' start making changes. I believe he is just on vacation status??
Just saying with the degree of issues this department is facing. For this to be the caliber of your first official movement toward making the department a better place...Sad, Sad, Sad. It really speaks volumes to the troops about your qualifications and or lack of them. Make changes PLEASE we know they are needed. But a true leader would start at the top and lead by example. If you need some help I could suggest you start by closing out the investigation into the parking lot dope smell issue. We are not stupid guy/gals. We know that by keep the case open and saying that it is still being investigated. MEANS we are not doing the right thing, we are covering it up and waiting for everyone to forget. So we can sweep it under the rug. Yes we know what is being done. Yet you guys hang the little guys/gals out to dry.
We need the rules/regs to be enforced. But we don't need new ones the damn books is so thick now it takes 10 yrs to read it. Just enforce the rules that are already established and enforce them fairly and equal across the board or should I say ranks. Start a fair promotion system and stop promoting officers for what they can or have done for the higher ups. That's as far as I will go into that subject.. You guys know what I'm talking about.
Give us leadership. Lead by example and start making changes from the top and clean out your own dirt. You would be amazed at the way the rest will follow. LEAD BY EXAMPLE AND USE COMMON SENSE. Make changes that will in deed make a difference. Start leading with good common sense and make intelligent decisions. Stop letting your ego make decisions form you. OUR DEPARTMENT IS AT RISK.

Anonymous said...

Dear Golly Ms. Molly
We have no problem with dress standards being enforced. But in all honesty on my watch my Sgt. do the job just fine. They come in looking sharp and expect the same from us. If someone starts slipping then they deal with it. Don't need the 5th floor telling us through an ego pumping e-mail. Do us grunts a favor. Get your office up there in order by leading by example before you come down to our level with orders that are obviously motivated by your need for an ego pump. You really think by bringing that hat to roll call or for that matter wearing the thing is going to make me a better officer or make the public respect me. What world do you live in. Oh yea the 5th floor type. Sorry.
If you want to make changes of the positive type, do YOUR job and support the write ups for violations of rules and regs. That the supervisors send up. That's how you get Sgts. and Lts. motivated to enforce the standards. Do it with consistency and fairness across the board. You could also start earning real respect by cleaning house up there on your floor. Stop covering up things that happen in parking lots. By leaving the case open so you don't have to make a decision on what to do or give a final out come. We aren't going to forget the incident occurred, no matter how long you fail to deal with it. Yet you are so quick to jump on some poor little PO II or MPO and terminate them before they are even convicted in a court of law. You know charges can be brought against anyone, doesn't mean they are guilty. JUST A THOUGHT.
Kinda off your subject but while I'm at it. I got a problem with Capts., Majors, and Chiefs working part time jobs. To the extent that they become more important than the PD job. You know the type. The ones that we see at part times more than we see them at the office?? And there is no way they are working that much off duty during there working hours and taking the time off the way they should..NO one has that much leave time built up. There is some false reporting going on there guys. WE AREN'T blind or as stupid as you would like to think. Clean your house before ya start on ours. Mama always told me "lead by example." Earn your respect you can't ask for it and you sure as hell can't order it from us.
Oh and on the calling roll call to attention when you walk in. Don't think I need to worry bout that unless we start holding roll call at those extra job locations. Just Saying! But another thought about that if your ego is so deflated you need that type of interaction with your troops...I feel sorry for you, no I truly do. Maybe if you started standing up for what's right and doing the right thing when dealing with the BOC you would feel better about yourself. Then you would not feel the need to feel so IMPORTANT. Therefore no need for the EGO trip. But that won't be a problem I can follow orders. Just don't fool yourself. It's only lip service, doesn't mean a thing. Mama always said "you must stand for something or you will fall for anything" and "integrity is what one has when he/she thinks no one is watching". We are watching and you guys are failing the test. God please send us a leader. Not one in it just for themselves. Someone who has not forgotten what it is to be a cop and knows how to be a professional, and is truly interested in where this department is going. Lead me like a PROFESSIONAL and I will follow as one. "I PROMISE'.
Do that or you can sleep in the bed you have made. JUST SAYING.

If there was ever a class action suit to be made for a hostile work environment, unsafe conditions, negligent staffing, etc it would be at DKPD.

Captains and above should not be permitted to work part time jobs except major events which require an extraordinary off duty presence.

Ive always wondered how a Major can work more off duty gigs than they spend at the office.

Do we see Majors or Deputy Chiefs working off duty in Gwinnett or Atlanta, or Cobb? NOPE, because they dont allow it...those people are paid the bug bucks and given take homes because they are always on call.

I have been out of town the last month enjoying this beautiful October weather and the bad news is I am back with my opinionated and sometimes asinine opinions.
I am going way off topic on this one, It is political in nature and is important. Next Tuesday will be one of the most important in American history, I rank its importance almost as important as the presidential election of 1860 which had vast repercussions for DeKalb citizens.
I urge each and everyone of you to search your conscience, evaluate your economic situation and what is the best path for our great nation. The two presidential candidates have vastly contrasting platforms, policies and ideas on how to fix this country. Vote by their qualifications, past performance and character.
Be aware when you push the "Yes" button to record your vote, your making one of the most important decisions in your life.
God bless our nation and its citizens.

Anon 1:15, I agree. If you cant stand to muster for uniform inspection then go get a job someplace else.

Yeah we all get it, there are turds in this agency with rank. Welcome to working for the government. Do your job and do it well. If its that bad there are other police agencies in this state you can work for.

Actually I see APD Majors working at the Georgia Dome all the time. Please keep pretending you know what you're talking about, do you actually know the policies of other agencies or are you just talking out your ass?

Here's an idea, how about we just cancel extra jobs for everybody. Seems too many folks around DKPD worry more about their extra jobs than they do their actual jobs. Rank has nothing to do with it.

Well I for one am glad to finally see OBrien go. He was such a waste and provided absolutely nothing for this dept. other than see that his chosen few got promoted and moved into positions that they are so unqualified for. Since he has been the Chief we have seen nothing as far as pay raises. The moral has dropped to its lowest point that I've seen in 24yrs. He didn't stand and fight to get us the pay that we most desperately deserve. All he did was what ever it took to keep his palace around him. At least all of the other Chief's we've had got us raises...including Bolton. I do the best I can to try and build the moral among my troops but it's difficult when you have other Lt's, Capt's, Majors & Asst Chiefs doing their best to position themselves for an appointment and other Lt's trying to undermine your efforts. It's rather disgraceful. It's time for real leadership and move the clowns that think they're leaders back to positions where they can do the least amount of damage. Now is the TIME for us to pull together every single officer from PO1's to Lt's and demand new leadership...someone that will also demand a pay raise for the hard working, ass kicking officers that do this job everyday and then come back the next day to do it all over again. It's time for the BS to stop...or has everyone just decide to roll over and take it in the A$$!!!

Anonymous said...

I am very concerned about lack of common sense with some officers. I respect police officers 100% but common sense seems to be lacking in issuing of citations. Each incident is different and many times a warning is much more effective than a ticket.

You guys cannot see the forest for the trees. Chief O'Brien was only appointed to chief to calm the waters after Tebo left. He was never going to hold the spot for long. He was only keeping it warm for Wiz Miller's best friend Dale Holmes. That is why Dale was put over Uniform Division. The uniform division of any police department is the face of that department. Dale has been going to community meetings all to set up for his takeover of the DKPD. You guys think that it was sooo bad under Vernon and Tebo. Just wait until Dale takes over. And by the way the advertisement for a DKPD chief is only smoke and mirrors by CEO Ellis and WIz Miller. Get your popcorn ready........

Anonymous said...

To GI Joe.... I suspect that you will say that about anyone who doesn't promote YOU... It sounds like your way of justifying the fact that you have not been promoted.... If that is what makes you feel better about your status, fine... But I doubt anyone is buying it... Get to work and make some contributions and maybe you will be favored for promotion instead of being passed over, again!!!!!

Anonymous said...

To GI Joe,

Chief O didn't fight for a pay raise? How the hell would you know? Were you in the meetings he had with the director and CEO? If you actually knew anything about leadership then you'd know those types of fights stay private. Kind of like troops should never see superior officers fighting among themselves. I learned that in the military and in all your years you should have picked up on that too.

Here's a quick list of some things we've received over the last few years:

Tasers, 40-cal's, new vests with side protection, spotlights on cars, black uniforms, training uniforms, flashlights that are actually worth a damn, improvements to range with low light shooting on the way, and countless other projects you have no clue about or don't want to see. Chief O didn't do anything..give me a break!

I'm guessing your personal vendetta comes from the fact that some people around here know your a piece of crap and haven't promoted you to a position you think you deserve.

Part of being an effective leader is telling your troops what you are doing for them, when it is appropriate. O'Brien's "behind the scenes" machinations on our behalf do NOTHING to quell the rumors that start. In the absence of facts, people will make them up in an effort to have an answer. Part of a leader is putting out enough information to answer the questions before they get asked. We hear of "management team" and "as managers and supervisors...", which all convey a shift at McDonalds. If I am going to follow the order of somebody that may result in my injury or death, I want a LEADER, not some appointed moron who whines about customer service and can't string together two words to make a sentence. If he has tried to do for us but was shot down, then he needs to tell us. This leadership principle is called "keeping faith with your people". Trust?? Hmmmmm...kinda seems so simple. O'Brien has had his chances, but has failed. Godspeed on his retirement, but he has let us down.

Not trying to argue with you, but the argument mentioning new or replacement equipment that we received over the past couple of years to defend the departing chief is weak.

Replacing or upgrading some equipment is a necessity for any police department. Saying that providing necessities is leadership is not leadership. Besides, the county probably approved many upgrades simply on the advise of some county lawyer who advised them they would have less liability in any lawsuits that could come up if we didn't have some better equipment by both the public and the officers on the street.

Given the current caliber of "leaders" in positions of power in America these days and the intelligence level of most , I guess it is plausible that we now view people providing things that need and should be provided as "great leaders".

Yep alot cash spent on equipment and "0" spent on pay raises. ...stick your equipment up your ass!!!!!!!!!!!

As long as there are idiots like you who are grateful for the crumbs the BOC dolls out to you this will always be a LOSER DEPARTMENT full of folks who are either A) stuck because of the pension and are afraid to make a move or B) true losers who are not much better than than welfare crowd they serve to protect. Anonymous said...

Ok now I have to jump in on this one....

To the poster at 3:32pm...which part don't you understand? THE CHIEF DOES NOT SET PAY RAISES!!!!

Only the BOC can adopt the county budget which will either approve or deny a pay raise for ALL DeKalb employees. Just like the federal level, Congress sets the budget, not the President. I know you probably didn't know that but it's always easier to yell than state facts.

What exactly would you like the chief to do? He can scream, rant, and threaten to quit and it is all for nothing. Nothing is stopping YOU from attending a BOC meeting and demanding a raise. Actually I'm curious as to why 100's of officers are not at the BOC meeting every week/month. Since according to the posts here the leadership is so lacking. Well...grow a pair, put your money where your mouth is, and head on down to the BOC. Of course you wont, because it's much safer to rant like a jackass as an anonymous poster within a bitch blog!!!

Well those of us that have been here for at least 10 years know that the female Captain at Tucker precinct has slept with any and everyone both inside and outside of the department. She dated best friends Holmes and the "WIZ" and was given the blueprint to each promotional exam. I am sure she will be a Major before too long. Word around Tucker Precinct is she was in an accident recently and wrecked her unit. I am sure NOTHING will happen to her though.

You're an idiot. The flashlights were bought with drug funds. If Chief O'B hadn't upgraded the flashlights, you'd still be carrying around that POS $8.00, 2 D-cell battery one that the County has been passing out for the last 20 years. The tasers were bought with drug money; too. The County doesn't and hasn't upgraded any equipment as a matter of normal business for PD.
