ADA's Geary and Melvin Resign

Whats going on in the D.A.'s office? Why would two seasoned, competent prosecuting attorneys abruptly resign?

We're guessing the word competent and Robert James don't mix.

Read more here.

We are starting to look like Clayton County that's why.

Maybe they realized the county isn't worthy of their talent as most others have.

This is what happens when you mix brains with ineptitude. The brains go elsewhere and the ineptitude sticks around and screws things up.

Get out and go somewhere where the word respect means something as opposed to being stepped on like a bug

May they both further prosper in their careers.

They have successfully prosecuted a few high profile and complex cases in their careers so maybe they were recruited by the Cobb DA and offered a better salary with a lighter case load. Good luck to them. Now a new ADA or two will step up and fill their shoes. Best of luck to the up and comers too.

More pay..better benifits....knowing that thier work will be more benificial with better results.....because if you remember when we got into this line of work....at times it really felt good that you were able to make a difference....a supervisior would come up and pat you on the back and say, "that was a hell of a good job you did back there".
For that brief moment you stood a little taller and felt better about yourself and that type of motivation kept you always trying to do better.

I personally know the folks over in Cobb Co. Not only ADA's but a lot of the soliciters...good crew of people...good eithics and they are able to work together over 90% of the time.....sure...we all have our differences....but they work as a team.

Here in Dekalb....there are several good officers....several are here for just a paycheck.....they still have no idea what this job is really about....they drive around....well you know the rest of the story on them.....

Then we have management....there is no "TEAM" in this area....just take a good look at them.....if you ever go out on a "hot scene"....they are all there trying to prove of why they have rank. How many Lt.'s does it take to tell you where to park your unit for the outside perimeter crime scene area??...

No-one here has your back anymore. If we can't police our own and set the example of what we stand for.....then we might as well disolve into the sheriffs dept. You all know what I'm talking about...Stan Watson...the weed situation that had every single white shirt at Lavista in an attempt to do the semi right thing to do....but then thier was the "call" and everything stopped....and everyones training records pulled and a K-9 to be sent to be re-certified....the sex amoung brass and ranks at south & east....the nepitisim on positions within the county....

We all see it....nobody wants to do anything about it...so it all goes away with time....proof???...as a county unit...we don't even show up at any of the county BOC meetings to show disgrace or even voice an opinion.....

The county is holding on by threads....until we start cleaning house and policing our own....we will continue to go on....day by day and let things that make our blood preasure go up continue to disgrace this dept. We can ask for help from the citizens....but then again the majority of them don't know any better...they don't care...they continue to re-elect the idiots in Decatur.

It has to start somewhere.....understand...I'm not disgruntle....after 25 years here...I'm still here...and I'm probabally waisting my time...until we come together and make it as a unit...things will continue to go to hell in a handbag...and it is truely a shame....DEKALB used to mean and stand for something...now it just takes the 1st 10 minutes of the nightly news head lines, Even though we are not over seas fighting the war...we are fighting the war here on our streets....because if were over seas....we would have slaughtered a long time ago...because there is no "I" in team.

Food for thought.

The loss of Don Geary at the DA's Office is equivalent of Major Felony not having Tom Stewart anymore. Good Luck to you Don, your knowledge and vigor when it comes to criminal prosecution in DeKalb County will be missed more than most know. I sure as hell don't know how they could let you slip away.

The people running Dekalb county have one thing in common with every City, County and now Nation that is going down the toilet. Go ahead make a guess what is the common denominator? Go ahead and say it, everyone is thinking it, everyone knows the answer. Get that common denominator out of the equation and we can start turning it all around. Face it folks they are all crooks, and have only one thing on their minds..How much can I put in my pocket when I make this deal?

Still no word on the pension meeting updates. The last one on the pension web page was in July. What give here?

Hey blog boss. You put a link on the side of the main page for the pension board, so they could keep us updated but it has not been updated since July. Whay are they allowed to keep us in the dark about our pension?

To Anon 9:56,

In the past we have contacted Robbie Robertson about keeping the minutes up to date.

Because of some legalize, the minutes cannot be posted for 60 days (we recall) after the meeting.

The county has total control over the postings. You can use your imagination as to why they drag their feet.

Thanks for reading!

Yea, ref the pension meetings. We get the big FU as usual.

If they have a 60 rule for some stupid bureaucratic reason, then the July meeting should haave been posted by September and the Sept meeting by November. Our own reps keep us in the dark. Why do we need them?

Cash out your pension NOW while there is still something to take. Bankruptcy is around the corner obviously so if you don't act you've no one to blame but yourself.

People come and go in DeKalb every day...moving on. Robert knows what he is doing!
