R.I.P brother, he was a tough guy in I.A, I got in a little pizzmeoff contest one afternoon and he was the only guy to fire & hire me back all in the same day with Directors Hands help, I was young and will never forget Buddy King, one of the old legends has departed!!!!

Buddy wasn't held in the highest esteem by some, because of his politics, elbow rubbing with unpopular supervisor's,and being the commander of I.A.,certainly didn't exactly, raise his stock, either. All I can say is,he always treated me right, because I stood my ground, right or wrong. Mind you, this was way,way before the old "Garrity Ruling",involving internal investigations of police officer's. Don't ever lie,was my complaint survival philosophy. Back in the day,we worked together as patrolmen, and I "thumped",many a perp for him, that were way above his capabilities to control. That's probably where his "having my back" affection, was born. Buddy,as so many other's,"took that wide road" to rapid promotions, causing much consternation, and resentment. Believe it,or not,he always treated me right, and trust me,I wasn't exactly a "choir boy". If I did something deemed "unsavory",by the powers to be,,I would cop a plea,"damn justice, show me mercy". Sometimes he could, sometimes he couldn't,so I would "take my eight, and go to the lake",with no hard feelings. Between our occasional "appointment's",he would tell people that he just knew I was out there, somewhere,"violating" somebody's rights, and his phone would be ringing off the hook before long. Funny guy! He kept me from smacking many a "lamb supervisor",and no doubt, tried,in vain,to protect me from myself, allowing me to keep this job for 30 years. I liked him because, what I saw,was always what I got. He would hammer me,just as quick,as anybody else. Being a "old chool police",I couldn't help but admire that. Our inside joke was,"you don't share your toy's,and you definitely don't play well with other's"! Buddy King, unlike many other"professed" friend's,was my FRIEND. He "took" many a round for me,that he didn't have to. At least when he did "sumbitch" me,he had the balls to do it to my face. That was,and still is,a rare commodity in this, and any department. It makes me sad that he did not get to enjoy his retirementin good health,,as I have, and still do. R.I.P.,Bud. Thanks for being my friend.I know, many times,it wasn't easy.
