On 12/13/2018 the Dekalb county police Department lost a brother
in blue, Officer Edgar Flores was conducting a traffic stop when the driver of
the car jumped out and ran from the vehicle. Officer Flores gave chase and was
shot by the driver as he was in pursuit on foot. The suspect fled the scene
after shooting Officer Flores. Other officers arrived on the scene along with a
police K-9 unit and they were able to track the suspect and confronted him
behind an abounded business. The suspect
was still armed and shot the police K-9 dog and engaged the other officers. The
suspect was shot by the officers.
Officer Flores died at Grady Memorial hospital from the gun
shots he sustained.
