Hapeville Police starting pay  50,000.00 plus lots of perks and great benefits. Dekalb still one of the lowest paid departments in the metro Atlanta area.

Not only is Dekalb one f the lowest starting salaries, but they are also the worst agency for giving you your annual pay increase. I have been here 11 years and have received three pay increases. I know several veteran officers who have been here 20 plus years and they are only making 60,000.00 a year. I would think after 20 years you would be topped out at the rank you are. I just hope I can get hired somewhere else. I can’t spend my life giving a department my hard work and have them treat me that bad. Please don’t waste your time coming to work for this department , it is run by corrupt politicians and spineless command staff.

This department needs to join together and make a stand against the injustice of our pay compression problems and our benefits , time for a blue flu

I do not condone work stoppage , but it would be nice to get everyone on the pay scale they deserve. I am tired of working three jobs to proved for my family and never seeing them because I chose to give my life to a department that has simply used me and lied to me about my pay.

Atlanta police received a 30% pay raise last year. Now the city just passed a 15% pay raise for all other city workers. Yet our CEO thought it was a great thing to give Dekalb av3% raise, it’s not a raise it is what you owe us after 10 years without a merit increase.just pay us what we are due.

Dont live beyond your means. I have been here 20 years I provide for my family and my spouse stays home taking care of our children ...the way its supposed to be. Unlimited overtime and part time jobs and a take home Tahoe. I made 120k last year and I'm a sergeant. You just have to live smart. P.s. read Dave Ramsey.

To mr Sgt who has been herev20 years I think you are full of shit. Don’t tell people to not live beyond our means. I work overtime and part time jobs. I have two kids to put through college and a special needs child that needs a lot of medical attention. None of those things are Dekalb county’s fault. I just simply wish they would pay me what they promised when I was hired. I am not asking for a pay raise I am asking for them to keep their word and pay me what I was told when I took my oath. So don’t judge anyone when you do not walk in their shoes. Just keep clearing on calls and drinking the kool-aid from the command staff.

Not to add salt to open wound but Brookhaven PD getting new Tesla patrol cars. Time to trade in the DKPD 150,000 mile clunker I think.

Hey Sgt. Why don’t you support your officers and fellow veteran officers. If you have in fact been here 20 years then you are not topped out either and you are owed what you were promised as well. So join us or leave us....pick up a gun and man that post or keep your comments to yourself.

No I'll support all the troops but I'm not a millennial whiner. Put your big boy pants on and keep it moving. Dont dwell on the county not giving you a raise 10 years ago. Life goes by too fast to worry about it. Make a path yourself either study and get promoted or college and go federal or the private sector. If you don't like it here and just can't get past the fact that the county is an Indian giver and didnt give you what they promised then better yourself and try another department. No hard feelings.

314D I'm clear

Not a Millennial whiner, probably have more time here than you. See you and the commissioners have it all wrong, I am not asking for a raise I am asking for what I was promised. See I have given this place 22 + years. I have missed holidays and special occasions and lost a wife and best friend who I watch dies from a pice of shit who shot him. I can’t go anywhere because I am stuck because I spent my life doing what I love , and this county has used me and ever other veteran who has not been paid what they were promised. My biggest regret is believing the county would do as they promised 22 years ago. You are part of the problem , because you tell your trooops if they don’t lime it leave. Shouldn’t we stick together and try to better our department for our officers. So just clear on the calls and keep dividing the troops.

This is what they love to see, officers divided and not united. Divide and conquer

To the officer with the kids in college and a special needs child, m hat is off to you. To work hard and to work overtime and extra jobs to try and provide for your family. We need more officers like you and leaders like you. Yes we all deserve what we were promised and it’s a shame this county does not care, and shame on the so-called Sgt who made the comment about living above your means. He is a cancer to this department and a supervisor who has no clue.

asking for a friend , are these comments true on here about 20 plus year veterans only making 60,000 a year?

Anonymous said...

No it’s not true, I have been here 26 years and only make 61,000......

You can spend a career or lifetime complaining about how you weren't given what you were promised or change it. The opportunity to work overtime and part time jobs is great. But living within your means is very important. Most people dont and live paycheck to paycheck and are miserable.

314D sounds like a self righteous prick

The only miserable officers I know are the ones working for 314D

To the 26 year veteran. 61k isn't true you should be making 66 to 70k. Dont mislead people here. Just check out the payscale.

No I am not trying to mislead, I am stating facts I make 61k and have been here 26 years. Based on the last pay scale that the commissioners voted on and approved. I should be making 72900. This is with longevity and being topped out at my position. But I am not I am 11 k away from that. Just another example of dedicating ones life to this department and them using us and lying to us.

...No one lives forever, no one. But with advances in modern science and my high level of income, it's not crazy to think I can live to be 245, maybe 300. Heck, I just read in the newspaper that they put a pigs heart in some guy from Russia. Do you know what that means?

Does that not blow your mind? That just happened......Shake & Bake!!

That's weird. You should talk to personnel. There are officers making 66k with the same time

Anonymous said...

I have spoken to them, they tell me I am where I should be. That is the problem with this county and department, there is no consistency with how things are done or how we are paid. In fact the only consistency in this department is how they don’t do things the right way.

If Dekalb County promise a certain pay salary for Officers , Its absolutely nothing wrong with them complaining about it. Officers don't let DeKalb County fool you. This is a very rich county. They need to pay the officers correctly....
