Chief Ramos has a BIG impact on Dekalb Police
We have received several emails and post from officers, civilians and officer families regarding the morale and work environment at the Dekalb county police Department. Before writing anything we spoke to several officers about the changes and work environment. After speaking with several officers in several different precincts and divisions it is a unanimous feeling that the morale is the lowest it has ever been in department.
When Chief Ramos started she made bold statements about positive changes for the department and its future. She visited several different roll-calls and different divisions and asked the officers and supervisors for input. After visiting all these different places and making bold statements about positive changes, she has made some questionable moves and implemented some changes that have officers and detectives looking at other agencies to go to.
She has associated herself with questionable people and placed certain supervisors in key positions that have questionable backgrounds. Instead of finding a way to address the manpower shortage she has only made extra work for other officers and detectives. None of the officers, detectives and supervisors we spoke to had anything positive to say about what  Chief  Ramos is doing. If the morale really is at an all time low then we can only hope someone will step in and help get things going back in the right direction.

I have been here 28 years and I can honestly say I have never seen morale this low. The chief is not helping matters by some of the things she is doing.

The chief lied to us the commissioners lied to us the citizens hate us. I am stuck here with my age and 21 years I have given this county, so they have done is lie and cheat me out of a decent retirement.

Why in the hell would anyone go to work for Dekalb Police, I am fortunate that Ias able to get out. The way those officers are treated is criminal, and they were promised that if they did a good job they would have a good retirement after dedicating a career to the department and county. That is a lie they ha e not paid their officers in years you have officers that with 20 plus years experience still are not close to the top out pay. They have been lied to for 20 years and yet they still go to work and give the county 100% effort. It is a shame that Dekalb c
county CEOa d the commissioners are so crooked and a bunch of liars they need to be arrested.

Hell I thought it would have been bad if Yarbrough was Chief, but maybe now he would not have been so bad. I mean anything has to be better than what we have now.

Lt. Joe here , while at Miami Dade she made some troubling and unethical decexions. She managed to divide our troops against each other and morale was pretty bad. But I am happy to report since she has left things have improved tremendously. God speed Dekalb watch your 6

So let’s have CID detectives take one day and go work the road, evermind the case load or falling behind on phone calls and working our cases. Let’s just work the road for a shift and get into some other cases we will have to deal with along with the cases already assigned to you. I have never heard of such b/s in my life.

Hey here is a brilliant move.ets makes perfect ero e clock in and out no matter what unit they are assigned to. You know have them go to the burgess building and clock in and then drive out to Lithonia and work a school zone, oh by the time they get to the school zone school has already started.

You trust officers with explosives, fully automatic weapons And to fly helicopters. But you don’t trust them to work 10 hours. Since you insulted them by telling them you do not trust that they will work a full 10 hours now they will not go the extra mile or help on the way home , you cut your own throat by being a micro manager. When you micro manage you slow down work productivity and make your troops disgruntled and morale low..

Sgt. Shower was assigned to uniform and clocking in and out everydY and still falsified time sheets, so let’s punish the entire department and be micro managers of each officer. You trust us with a gun and badge but not with our integrity.

The CEO and the commissioners lied to us when they voted to fix the pay compression and now they have lied about the 4% increase again. Yet they used the media to make it look like they were giving a raise.

Please tell anyone you know who is applying to work here to run away as fast as they can. I don’t want to see them waste their life here and be lied to about what they will receive in retirement.

I hate this place but I am stuck. Some are railroaded and some get the cush spots. We need a new major and chief.

This is what happens when you make appointments, promotions, etc. for reasons other than choosing the most qualified candidate.
