The Dekalb County CEO used the last police graduation to make a public announcement about a 4% raise for all sworn police personnel. The next week at the commission meeting the CEO and the commissioners tabled the 4% pay increase. The media even ran a story on the local news about Dekalb County first responders getting a raise. The CEO and the commissioners are very good at making the public believe they are doing the right thing.
The cold hard truth is Dekalb county CEO and Commissioners have lied to the citizens and the workers of the county. When they voted to fix the pay compression, they voted to do it in two phases the first phase took care of all the officers with 6 to 15 years with the county. the second phase was supposed to fix the pay compression for the officers with over 16 years with the county. the commissioners tabled the second phase and have never implemented it. I think the public and the media need to know the truth about how Dekalb police officers are lied to and treated.

the CEO is the best at using the media to make the public think he is doing the right thing. he is as crooked as the rest of the commissioners.

what happened to the second phase of raises to fix the compression, if everyone but that particular group were taken care of then that is grounds for a class action suit.

these officers need a union and someone who will fight for them.

BLUE FLU

these officers need to research a good lawyer who can file a class action suit and all of them should not show up for work.

If you dont like it here then quit and go to another department. I'm sure some of the Mickey mouse places will hire you like Lithonia or chamblee or pine lake or dunwoody or even brookhaven.

It's that attitude that now has even CLARKSTON annexing from Dekalb. Think maybe it's time to look in the mirror and say, "maybe it's me"?

I am so sick and tired of hearing if you don't like it here then go somewhere else. well I am sorry that does not work for me and that is a bullshit answer. I along with several other officers come to work every day and we take pride in our job and we try to make a difference. we want the public to know we are here and we care about them. the fact that we have spent 18 plus years of our lives here doing the right thing and putting up with the lies and deception and corruption of this department is not our fault. all we want is to be paid what they promised us 20 years ago and to simply do what is right. we are tired of seeing the political bullshit and lies and using the media to make themselves look good when in fact all they do is lie to the media and lie to the officers. fix the pay compression and fix the salaries un this county.

Curtis Williams showed the whole department what a @$$ he is today and that he doesn't know the difference between reply and reply all.

Like you said. You've been lied to and deceived by the command staff and the commissioners. 18 plus years sounds like they got you. Some of us younger officers can keep the streets safe where we are appreciated and not waste 18 plus years.

I should be a lieutenant by now but I got screwed

if you can leave this department you should go to. Do not walk run away and tell everyone you know who is thinking about applying for Dekalb County Police do not do it. they will be lied to and taken advantage of. this is no place to try and have a career in law enforcement. this place is a joke and the laughing stock of the whole state.

our new Chief Ramos who is supposed to be the savior of the county has chosen the biggest intelligible thug wearing a uniform to be her chief of staff. this should show you her judgment in character.

Anonymous said...

Ramos is just a puppet for the CEO and she will just do more damage to our department like the others have.

Anonymous said...

when is Ramos getting post certified in Georgia or will she be like DR. Alexander and refuse to do that.

I can't believe people are still wanting to work for Dekalb police, that place will ruin your life and state of mind. the games they play with the officers and the way they treat the officers should be a crime. I left 10 years ago and I see things have not changed, I pray for my brothers in blue and look out for yourself because the county will screw you anyway it can.

Lt. Joe here from Miami Dade stay safe guys and keep your head screwed on straight. your new chief will lie to your face and stab you in the back. She has political aspirations and unfortunately, your department is just a stepping stone.

For those of you still at DKPD you can be sure of a few things. If you are still there and being effected by the “pay compression” - which is an easily provable fact - then why aren’t you all organizing and going to the BOC meetings and voicing your displeasure there? The media would love to run that story and stay on it for as long as you protest at the BOC meetings. And there is one thing Decatur doesn’t like is to have bad exposure - and upset cops is not a good thing. Stop the “we need a union” BS. You never joined the FOP or supported them and their efforts to get raises, etc., so don’t complain about them not doing anything. Also, enough with the Blue Flue BS. You’re not going to do it because it wouldn’t be right. You sick out and your fellow officer gets hurt - that’s on you. If you’re not going to take an ACTIVE role in things that impact you and your future - quit blaming others. FYI, there’s nothing the “higher ups” can do to you for going and protesting (as long as you’re acting within policy). In fact, most of them will be rooting you on.

The current chief will eventually move on, on her own accord or by being ousted. In Dekalb’s recent history only one person was publicly ousted. So don’t count on that happening. So I would give it a 2-5 year timeline before a new chief is put in place. For those of you in the LT - Captain - Major ranks, what are you doing to prepare yourself now so that you can be the best contender for that position? Hopefully you are not on this blog reading this mess. I assume you want those who make the chief selection to be able to pick from within the department, I do too. Then, if you’ve done everything to be the best choice and you become the chief, count on being on this blog being ridiculed by your fellow officers. Why? Because that’s what DKPD does to itself. Also, don’t whine about her salary - if you were to take a look at chief’s at other similar sized departments - it’s a reasonable salary.

Sincerely, all of us.
