City of Dunwoody to temporarily contract police services

The city of Dunwoody in now in negotiations with both the DeKalb County police department and the DeKalb County Sheriff’s Department for police services until Dunwoody can establish their own department, probably until March or April 2009.

To date, the police department has offered our services for $500,000.00 (that’s one half million dollars) per month. The sheriff’s department has submitted a proposal.

From past experiences, the city of Dunwoody would be out of their mind to pay for the (lack of) services from the police department. After Dunwoody’s chose to become a city, Vernon has become revengeful and spiteful, filing lawsuits trying to stop the city. Some of his decisions and taxpayer money spending was done behind closed doors to Roy Barnes. Illegal? We don’t know. Unethical? Everything about Vernon is unethical!

After the last two (2) academy graduations, Bolton refused to assign additional personnel to the north precinct. His command staff has been heard saying Dunwoody is on their own, if they want backup, they better call Doraville.

Why would the city of Dunwoody jeopardize the safety of it's citizens and the waste of it's taxpayer dollars by handing it over to Vernon and Tebo? Why would they rely on the same people for their safety who stand against them? Maybe farmer Smith needs to hire a fox to guard his hen house.

Does the madness continue?

Half a million dollars a month for one or two officers to patrol Dunwoody at any given time? The price seems to be a bit steep. I don't know if DSO would do a better job. DKPD command staff initiated a operation "Self Reliance" several weeks ago. In this operation all North units regardless of their assignment patrol the area of where the murder bus is parked. Usually Buford Hwy, and Pleasantdale Rd. Which means a 20 or 30 unit has to come from Buford and N cliff valley to get to Chamblee Dunwoody, handle the call and then head back to the murder bus.

Murder Bus. Gotta love it. Center Precinct rolled out Southsides murder bus to their most resent murder. Where are all the murder buses? Seems south precinct is the only one that has one now.

Didn't the same thing happen in Sugar Hill where GCPD raised prices of contract, SO tried to step in with lower contract and county commission said that the SO couldn't do it? Did any of the adjoining cities put in for bid? Could they?

Saturday night, 10/24/09 @ 10 PM, Dunwoody Police officers along with Dekalb County Police officers, had a DUI and License Check roadblock @ P'tree Ind. just south of Winters Chapel. I am very happy to see the departments working together to address the problem of DUI and unlicensed drivers. I receive email alerts from Dekalb Mugshots.com and Gwinnett Mugshots.com for zip code 30360 and I am amazed at how many arrests are being made for people driving with no drivers licenses, no insurance, DUI, etc. in the area.
At the same time, Gwinnett Police had another roadblock on Winters Chapel Rd. in front of the main entrance to the Dekalb Water Works with their BATMOBILE set up in the Winters Chapel Village Shopping Center. The officers told me that they would have similiar roadblocks for the next couple of weeks all over the metro Atlanta area and that all the Police Departments are working together to help reduce DUI's and unlicenced drivers.
Bottom Line, if you are drunk, have no drivers license or insurance, Keep Drivng and I will see your mugshot in a email from Dekalb or Gwinnet County Jails very soon. If you do drive drunk or unlicensed, then you endanger all of us and when you are arrested, all I can say is Thank You. Thanks for keeping our Police Officers, Jailers, Tow Truck Drivers, Lawyers, and Judges with plenty of work.
Thanks for keeping my Property Taxes from going up With all the money that you are going to pay in fines to the city and county.
Police Officers, Keep up the good work. Some of us Appreciate you for what you do every day No Matter what Department that you work for.
