from the article...."Much of Bolton’s defense was based the former chief’s claim that the CEO planned to usurp his authority by implementing an open door policy."

Usurp his authority??????

How does one's BOSS usurp one's authority?

Doesn't the "one" answer to the BOSS?

Doesn't the BOSS define the "one's" authority?

When did the command structure and/or the chain of command become a codified statute or law?

Bolton's authority eminates from the BOSS...the BOSS who defines his JOB and how his JOB is to be done!

How arrogant!

Bolton enjoyed Vernon Jones lack of rules, and it seems even after Vernon was gone Bolton decided to continue to operate as though Vernon were still his boss. Bolton rebelled against not only Ellis, but the citizens he swore to protect.

Once the citizens caught on to Bolton's abuses, someone had to step in and take action.

The citizens had lost confidence in Bolton to be present in DeKalb to do his job, and knew the morale of the DKPD was terrible. As a citizen it is a horrible feeling to know your police chief isn't on "the job" and even worse that police officers aren't happy with their jobs. Someone had to take action.

Our police chief was riding around in luxury cars most citizens couldn't even dream of owning. What does that say to the citizens who pay for your department? Especially in a time of tough financial times. Bolton was driving a high end Mercedes and a Range Rover, and had numerous drivers with their own cars. Citizens knew this was outright abuse.

When the public's attention is more focused on the wrong doings of their police chief than other criminals, something had to be done. There was no usurping, we had a police chief who was out of control.

Maybe it is necessary to revamp the Oath to promise not to abuse comp time and seized vehicles?

Now Bolton is trying to get his job back? We don't want him back! Bolton abuses the taxpayers.

And now he is suing for wrongful termination? Just another abuse of the DeKalb taxpayers Bolton SWORE to protect.
