Dude enters a GUILTY plea to statutory rape and gets 8 years probation? W...T...F...? Our "legal system" is astonishing.

Thanks a lot, Paul Howard, for dropping the ball not once, but twice with this same perp!

He shouldn't have been on the streets.

I know it's no consolation, but Ms. Qureshi died a hero for doing her part in trying to keep criminals off the streets. Unfortunately, we failed her. I hope that her legacy reminds us that we all have an important role in keeping each other safe, including changing how criminals are treated once caught. It is imperative that we stop coddling the parasites. My heart goes out to her family and friends, and may God watch over them in their grief.

IT JUST AMAZES ME HOW A CRIMINAL WHETHER HE ADMITS TO THE CRIME OR NOT, AFTER PROVEN GUILTY CAN GET 8 YEARS PROBATION. NOT UNDERSTANDING THAT. OKAY, SO HE GOT 8 YEARS, HE IS OUT WALKING THE STREETS, GOING ON WITH HIS LIFE, SO WHY TURN AROUND AND TAKE HER LIFE. I DON'T UNDERSTAND THE SENSE IN THE KILLING. I HOPE THIS TIME HE WILL FRY AND THE ACCOMPLISH THAT HELPED HIM FRY AS WELL. NO ONE DESERVES THIS. AS FOR THE DAUGHTHER, I HOPE SHE LEARNED A VALUBEL LESSON. NOT BLAMING HER, BECAUSE WHEN YOU ARE YOUNG YOU DO DUMB STUFF, BUT THERE IS A GRAVE LESSON TO BE LEARNED HERE. ESPECIALLY WITH YOUR JUDICAL SYSTEM.

Wow, this judical system needs some overhauling. How in the world they miss this one. And then in 2003/2004 he was arrested for a Murder!!!...and acquitted....okay, something is wrong with this picture. Now, the turns around and murder someone else. OMG what a system we have. If the joker cause convicted the first time, even with the rape case, maybe....just maybe Jameelah Qureshi would still be alive today to enjoy her family and finishing raising her kids and being a awesome wife. So very sad. Shame on our system.

I agree that the system needs to be fixed. The fact that he was walking the streets is a travesty.

The system works both ways though....how can we hold perps accountable when our own, those who violate their oath of office, get similar deals and walk. They disgrace themselves and all of us, but get a slap on the wrist.

Not defending the POS who needs to fry for what he did, but I want to see the system fixed overall. Frustrated in seeing perps of all shades walking.....

why is this animal still breathing. probable because he was to chick Sh!% to raise a weapon to somebody who has one to shoot back. and anybody who is surprised that this guy got probation hasn't been in any dekalb court in the past 5 years our judges and ADAs do the same thing.

Well, actually nothing really surprises me regarding our system today. The system is letting murders out on bond. Come on now, and then they turn around and kill someone else while out on bond. Wow, what madeness. Those that sit up in power and call themselves forcing the law need their heads examine. Ankle bracelets are being cut off, murders posting bond and then these same folks they let go commit crimes again and again and then it is too late for the victims and their families. My heart aches for the victims of violence, but because I knew the Qureshi family, this hits home. I know I have no Heaven or Hell to put anyone in, but these two need to really not waste taxpapers money and go straight to the chair, gas chamber or whatever.

Well he must have been mighty bold to come to her home and wait for her to get home. You mean to tell me no one in the neighborhood did not suspect anything wrong with this picture. All black neighborhood, white chick and a hispanic sitting outside the home. Was that not strange to some? I am considered a nosy neighbor in my neighborhood, not gets pass me when I am at home. Any suspicious person, I am calling the police, because nine times out of ten, you are up to something. We as people need to be more aware of our surroundings especially in our own neighborhood. Too bad the cops wasn't called investigate to see what they were doing there, then when they searched the car/or van whatever they were in they would have found a weapon and locked them up immediately. He would have served all of those eight years because he would have been caught with a weapon and that poor piece of trash would have went down too.

RIP Jameelah

In an ideal world, the last anonymous poster would be correct when (s)he said that catching this convicted felon with a gun would have resulted in him being incarcerated for a very long time. Unfortunately for us, we live in metro Atlanta, where that is NOT the case.

Lenient judges and STUPID juries have created this DANGEROUS environment we all must live in.

I highly doubt this killer was in plain view for a "nosy" neighbor to see. But even if he was, he would have been able to run when he heard the engine of a Crown Vic rolling up to investigate. And even if the officer inside of the CV was able to catch him running away, the perp would have only received more probation for violation his probation. That's how things work in DeKalb. Be sure to thank Gwen the next time you see her or the next time you go to VOTE!

I am pleased to see this case highlighted on this website. However, watch out--there's so much of this to go around, it has the potential of consuming the bloggers here.

Rest assured, none of these cases are what they seem--and they are extremely interesting...and oh, so "DeKalb".

Not necessarily "lenient" judges. Corrupt.
