Is Thursday the Day Of Reckoning?

Thursday August 13, 2009 will be 30 days from the conclusion of Terrell Bolton’s termination appeal hearing. It is a far gone conclusion Bolton’s termination will be upheld.

Will this be a day of reckoning?

Is the department on the horizon of a new direction in management? Will there be house cleaning on the 4th floor? If so, and it is fully expected, how will it effect the command staff? How will it effect some in key positions, including aides, their take home cars, county supplied cellular phones, and the lush work schedule of Monday – Friday, with all weekends and holidays off?

Will the madness continue?

Stay tuned!

We can only hope that changes are coming.

Yes, the madness will continue.

The madness has taken hold in the form of "culture".

Culture is a learned way of doing things that becomes ingrained and is extremely difficult to remove.

The culture of "me" that will not go quietly.

I think Obrien will be made permanent chief but I doubt anything else will change.

What the hell is our DA office doing on the Bolton scandal? The DA judged that Bolton had only violated some minor technicalities of the law, not worthy of prosecution, this is pure BS and every one of us know it except for the DA. (what the hell does Gwen do except prosecute DKSC administrators over falsifying test scores that they have already been fired for, earth to Gwen, no one gives a damn about prosecuting your lousy, high-profile cheating school officials, they have already been fired and punished) It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that Bolton and his cash sucking lawyers is going to sue the hell out of the county racking up millions in legal fees to DeKalb citizens regardless of the settlement. I guarantee that several valid criminal charges against Bolton on the miss-used confiscated luxury drug vehicles and Bolton burying the vehicle expense in other cost-centers would force any lawyer and client to do some serious thinking about negotiating a settlement on the county dropping criminal charges in exchange for Bolton dropping civil suits against the county. Gwen’s inaction is going to cost DeKalb dearly in bad publicity and legal fees. Thanks for nothing, Gwen; do you really expect to be re-elected based upon your lack of performance to DeKalb citizens?

I believe it is actually 30 working days, not calendar days, so the verdict won’t come out till the end of the month.

I want ALL of Bolton’s incompetent command staff gone!! Many of them should be punished for how they have treated people over the last few years. Then I am willing to give other people a chance to move into those positions. Even if it is someone I don’t particularly like, I am willing to give them a chance to move the department in another direction. I think that IF there are wholesale changes in the command staff, then they deserve a chance to see if they will act differently. If, after six months, they are acting like Bolton’s band of idiots, then I will be saying to hell with them also!

Hopefully our long nightmare is close to ending. We have a long way to go to get back and I sure hope the good officers of this department know that it will not happen quickly

Ya know sometimes the attitude of this blog just gets to me. On your post you go on about the aides having a take home car, county cell phone and work M-F with weeekends off. I can get your point at times about the take home cars but what the hell are you talking about. Let's see, the aide would need the county phone simply because of all the county business being conducted on behalf of the chief or others. Working M-F I certainly don't have a problem with. Would you rather they work on weekends when the command staff is not there? Just so were clear the command staff has never worked on the weekends. As a person who does work on the weekends I kind of like NOT having them around on weekends. I mean seriously you guys need to get a new soap box.

I hope people look at the qualifications and not color in the next election. They did in Clayton County.

Dekalb County will never change for the better. They don't even know what better is, so they will not ever get there. I think they call it institutional stupidity.

Your about to have commanders who cant even communicate the english language. Plus couldnt command their a.. out of a wet paper bag. Granted you currently have a couple who fit that bill but your about to have a whole flock of them. Good luck because your going to need it. The madness will never end at DKPD.

O'Brien you need to have the balls to stand up to this chaos.

Anonymous said...

Doesn't matter how big O'Brien's balls are if Miller continues to castrate him. Let O'Brien be a police chief and not a lame duck who has to stand by while Miller puts his friends in high places just cause he can. Déjà vu. Miller = Bolton plus intelligence and identical delusions of superiority and unchecked power. Oh yeah, it's Miller time alright. The more things change the more they stay the same.

Again, we warned you about adopting that outdated Public Safety director position. I hate to admit it but Bolton was right, the position is not needed. If I recall, many on here were excited about Dekalb getting that position. Now, look at what you got. A Bolton figure that's over the entire public safety of Dekalb.

I understand that O'Brien can only do so much until he is in place permanently. Do we even know if he wants the job? College Park's interim police chief has told the media that he wasn't interested in the position when it finally starts looking for candidates. College Park's chief is just simply maintaining the department and not making major changes that will be redone once the new chief comes aboard. That could be O'Brien's rationale. I hope he is not like Councilman Ambrose Clay of College Park (lets get along to get along) because he is scared of those around him.

Neither Director Miller nor Chief O’Brien has done much of anything in the way of big decisions yet. But regardless of this obvious fact some of you like to criticize Director Miller for some future decisions that you think he will make. A lot of this criticism for future decisions seems to surround Director Miller’s friends. I can only think of a few supervisors who fit this description and there are a few things that I know about them. They never kissed Bolton’s ass. They were treated like dirt by Bolton. They NEVER obtained any appointed rank by Bolton.

A simple way of looking at it I admit, but if Bolton liked you, I question your character and if Bolton did not like you, then you were probably on the right side of things in my book. These friends of Director Miller may be deserving of a chance when you really consider all of the facts.

A Bolton supporter has spoken on Miller. Get a life.I hope it is time for you to become full time bloggers instead of part time commanders that you are now. Chief OB it will take balls to kill snakes. GOOD luck

It's Miller time and yes we will because yes we can. Another new start and new beginning of the same old sh..

Miller is the Public Safety Director, not a Chief of Police. Miller should not have any ability to assign his friends in the police department to do anything. That's not what he was put into place to do. If Miller's "friends" are squared away, qualified and eligible Chief O'Brien may promote or re-assign them. But not because they know Miller; we've been through enough of that.

Hell at least Bolton called in people and interviewed them before promoting them, at least giving the appearance of being fair. Although he was sadly letting Tonya Dedrick advise him on he should or should not promote. The new Director is just going to promote who he wants to without interviews or anything. Thats change for you isnt it.

What you take the night off when the reckoning happened. Dont worry the only real sacrifice was Waddleton who was one of a few deserving promotions the previous idiot made. Everyone else wound up with cush assignments.the f.....madness continues..

Anonymous said...

Hey I hear Waddleton is getting the hell out of this madness after she got royally screwed over by obrien and miller. great job on running off the only working commander you had, idiots. im sure the directors former girlfirends will do a much better job.
