DeKalb Community Council Denies Late Night Club Application At Fridays Plaza - DeKalb BOC Has Final Say

If Vernon was still in office, this would be a shoe in for the owners of the club. Just slide Mr. C.E.O. a few bills to his bag man and they would be in like flint.

Let's see how the current administration deals with "quality of life" issues.

Speaking of the devil Vernon himself. What happened to potential enditement and the lawsuits?????

Yep - there's not much to hide behind - this was clearly intended to be a "club", with less emphasis on the food. With OASIS in the same plaza, who needs the headache?
BTW - Can anyone help get MIST on Savoy to stop pouring at 3:30 am like they're supposed to????? Thanks to Vermin, they can stay open until 4:00 am, but they party way past the cutoff time.

how does The Cave do it too?

OH NOOO!

Speaking of clubs and violations.... Whatever happened to our Vice Unit? Do we still have one?

I can remember the day when running into someone from Vice or Narcotics was a regular thing....back in the day.

I can't tell you the last time I've seen either. We used to fax them criminal activity forms on a regular basis...AND they used to follow up on them with great success.

Have they gone the way of the dinosaur?

would be nice if the officers who work myst would man up and control the crowd... always gettin help calls from their!!

Hate to be dumb, but where is "Mist" in the county? Thought I knew just about every club location but this is a new on me. Also, FYI, finally Seasons d/b/a Me'Lange (old Olive Garden across from 34) has closed its doors! Guess the new "flavor" its owner ( Kelvin Cato x-N Y Knicks basketball player ) talked about bringing to the Parkway in an interview went the way of "Vermin"..who, incidentally, was a regular at the establishment. Good riddance!! Now looks like we are going to have to contend with outdoor patio issues at Twisted Taco in the old Chili's location once warm weather gets here. And the beat goes on....

Good lord. So sensitive. Twisted Taco is hardly a night club. Just much ado about nothing.

Season's wasn't a problem. Just a few old cranky busy bodies complained about it.

Twisted Taco....I don't see that as being much of a problem.

The Twisted Taco will be another Tin Roof Cantina - a patio bar and grill that will function fine with one officer late in the week and the weekends. It won't attract the gun toting, heavy dope smoking crowd.(In My Humble Opinion)

Mist is located on Savoy (access road ITP btwn Shallowford and N. Peachtree) just behind the Mobil
gas station.

Here's a little info for you:

BUT. Ain't nothin' gonna happen. Too much revenue for Dekalb. Peace out. Love ya, esp Slamin Ethel. If I knew who ya were, I'd leave a bottle of rum on your doorstep.

About Twisted Taco: how close do YOU live to the place or any other establishment whose loud outside music will intrude into the quietness of your home? Would you really like to have to listen to loud music and revelers until late at night? No one who lives within close proximity to T.Taco has any objections to a new restaurants opening on the Parkway but it becomes a whole different ball game when warm weather gets here and everybody wants to party on the deck and the music and partygoers gets out of control And about Seasons? Cranky busy bodies, hunh ? One can bet money on who wrote than one. Surely it couldn't be the same ranking officer who labeled members of a certain Neighborhood Watch "nosy neighbors" after they came to him asking for help in ridding the neighborhood of major drug activity. To want to preserve the sanctity and quality of life in one's neighborhood is not something anyone should be put down for. And let's don't forget about those "fun loving patrons" who spent the entire evening trying out glass after glass of the 100 margaritas offered or the 88 kinds of beer only to get in their cars and try to drive home.....lose YOUR only child to a drunk driver and then you will feel the real concerns.

There are some people who will complain about anyone having fun within 3 miles of their home. Season's was never a noise problem. You couldn't hear it at headquarters or lafitness, both of which are closer to it than any houses.

And to the long winded "anonymous" poster, you're incredibly wrong, as usual.

This Not In My Backyard nonsense (heretofore "NIMBY") has got to stop. I live in the county, and while I'm not a fan of the thug-magnet clubs, I'm all for a few more decent bars and restaurants. The NIMBY folks tend to place a lot of demands (better schools, better services, etc.) on the County, yet they have no suggestions on how to foot the bill.

How do you expect the county to provide the level of services you demand without a tax base? How do you expect to attract decent businesses (and decent patrons) to our fair county by blocking every restaurant and bar that wishes to open? DeKalb County is a giant strip-mall; I'd prefer bars and nightclubs in these places over a bunch of empty/blighted storefronts.

Some of these mega-clubs are a problem, and they need to be dealt with. What is frustrating is that a lot of NIMBY people see "The Cave" and "Twisted Taco" in the same light. The Cave is a nuisance. Twisted Taco promises to be a decent place to eat and drink. Just because the place is open late and serves alcohol does not mean it's going to be a perp-magnet or even a disturbance. One need only to look at downtown Decatur to see how decent bars and residents co-exist. Taco Mac and Brickstore serve a lot of beer and are open late, but the quality of life for Decatur residents is not decreased.

Noise, traffic & parking were big issues when Seasons first opened. As parking cont. to create problems for other business owners DeKalb officers were hired(May-Oct.07) by the owner of the bldg. behind Seasons to work each nite until 4:30 AM to keep unauthorized cars from parking in their lot. A pass -code iron gate was later erected. . Fact: not fiction. The apts. & subdiv. across the CSX r/r bridge are less than a mile from T/Taco...not 3 miles. . Although not factual, your comments are appreciated.

Some of ya'll really need to get out more often.

Twisted Taco? Get real. It's just a restaurant that happens to have a bar. Same as O'Charley's, Applebees and the like.

I'll be one of the first to patronize Twisted Taco.

The biggest concern should be clubs like The Cave and The Mist staying open until 6 or 7 in the morning and the county turning a blind eye. These illegal clubs have uniformed officers working the doors.

I guess someone who is still obsessed with Season's struggles with reading comprehension. I never said the people who complained about Season's lived 3 miles away. Learn to read! I said "There are some people who will complain about anyone having fun WITHIN 3 miles of their home." See the difference??

Fact: If people 1/4 mile away from a bar can't hear it, people 1/2 mile can't hear it.

Here's another fact: if you aren't the owner of the nearby lot where people were parking, it's none of your business if people were parking there!! It's up to that owner to complain and do something about it, not you.

Mind your own business and stop exaggerating.

Contact the GA Department of Revenue alcohol enforcement division. They will get on top of those late night clubs. There are several rules they must follow that I highly doubt they are.

The only way someone could truthfully say a bar is serving alcohol after hours if they were in the bar after hours and saw it happen. Anyone going to step up to the plate and say, "I was inside and I saw it happen??" Just because people are still there after the alcohol shut off time doesn't mean they are still serving alcohol.
