"Now I'm Living In A County That Is Going Into Ghetto Mode."

This according to Joel Edwards, resident of Kings Ridge subdivision off South Hairston Road.

He is upset, claiming Commissioner Sharon Barnes, committee chairman of the County Operations and Public Safety Committee, which oversees zoning ordinances, is dragging her feet.

What Mr. Edwards is not taking into consideration in his criticism of Commish Barnes, is that she is a busy person. It takes a lot of time dodging arrest warrants, bill collectors and finding somewhere to live after being tossed out of her house.

If Mr. Edwards believes the county is going into ghetto mode from a zoning perspective, he should see it from a police perspective.

Since the police know where the violations are, would'nt it be cost effective for them to write and issue the violation. Maybe between calls or a slower time of day.

Much of Dekalb has been a total ghetto for decades, this is nothing new.

Most of Metro Atlanta is a ghetto.

I think metro atlanta is the problem.

city/county in a major city style policing has lost its appeal to me.

Better to go somewhere off 75/nice areas just a bit further from atlanta & 285

Too much cheating going on in Fulton and Dekalb Counties. Cheating in the schools and lots of government places make this area a real ghetto if we are all unlucky enough to reside here.

We taxpayers cannot help what has transpired over the years in this county and which idiot helped destroy it. Not only which idiot helped destroy it, but probably became richer in the process.
Thats the American and Obama way currently.......What a mess!

Do you even read the newspapers?

Ghetto means that Tmobil wants to install radioactive satellite dishes on all of our east dekalb public school play grounds!

i guarantee you - tmobil would not even of CONSIDERED making such a business deal in gwinette or any other county!

Nissan Xterra anon here:

If it's so ghetto, why not hire local non union Teachers who actually want to teach, local citizens who actually want to arrest, or elect people as commissioner who can actually balance a budget in their personal lives or business wise?

@July 9th, 9:27AM anon:

Code Enforcement does the citations. The thing is, Code enforcement for Atlanta and Dekalb are puppets for the elected "elite". Blog about Shirley Franklin's already published dirty laundry and she will send code enforcement out to hold you in court for 2 years to get 3 convictions out of you. Meanwhile, the rest of the city can go to crap and/or end up on the news with no response from code enforcement. They would rather go after peeling paint of the back of a house or 2 inch high "overgrowth" than a Jungle next door or a near landfill next to it. They cited me for open door once, after my lame tenants left and at 7:00AM, before I came by for court cited me for that. Well guess what? Two open and vacant structures are on Memorial drive near the intersection of Memorial and Moreland. They called themselves doing a general survey, but those kicked in doors are quite easy to see.

For Dekalb, Belvedere civic club used that to go after any citizens at the meeting they didn't like. They cited people for junk cars when the vehicles still ran. It wasn't my dad's fault he like dodge trucks so much back then that he had multiples. The economy was better then.

Now that Belvedere has a bunch of drugs and they ran out of people on their "list", they don't do much that would improve the area.

Funny thing is, a Code Enforcement guy cited me at my tenant's behest. I use that word loosely because they finagled their way in and I was in the middle of eviction proceedings since the lady quit her only job and paid no money as promised. He blamed my septic tank for the smell. The smell never came out(I used bleach, ammonia, whatever) until I went to petco to buy a solution. Their dog made the smell. I was also cited for the yard my tenants never wanted to cut, since they were being evicted. Hmmm. And then, the tenant's live in boyfriend who I later learned was an ex-con was selling drugs using MARTA.

I had some words with his supervisor of course.

PS. These tenants were hostile and I only let them in because of another landlord's recommendation. I later found out he lied and that they took his washer machine.

You can't make this stuff up.

You left out Clayton County, wouldn't live in a house, a TOWNHOUSE, an apartment or a cardboard box there

Don't you think the SUV parked at 34 with the vanity tag that says SCREAMER on it, is ghetto

Whom EVER posted the comment about my tag is a jackass. My tag has nothing to do with the original post. Its a free country and Im free to put whatever the hell I want on it. How about u worry about the damn county and your own business. And FYI the meaning behind my tag has nothing to do with what u think u half-brain jerk-off. And im far from "ghetto". U got any further complaints about my tag come see me. Im on the 5th floor ask for Danie.

Danie if you were so smart, you would figure out what a double entrendre your plate is, and have enough respect for yourself to not have done it to begin with. Actually, I'm being generous calling it a double entrendre. Anyone looking at it would come to the same conclusion, so you either need to accept responsibility for it and get over it, or get rid of it.

PS Danie - your response was TOTALLY ghetto.

To Anon @8:22 pm..You're TOTALLY right. I was riled up and I lashed out. It's a poor excuse but I'm a HOTHEAD. To Anon @8:21 pm..With that being said, I should put that on my tag HOTHEAD. Oh wait, I can't because I have to take responsibility for the perverts who are going to take it "the wrong way". It's called an expression but let me stomp on that freedom because obviously it does not apply to me. Let me also thank you for calling my intelligence, or lack thereof, into question because obviously I'm not smart enough to know that my tag could be taken "the wrong way" (by the way I'm being sarcastic in case you'd like to take that statement the wrong way too). It's called INTENT. I know my intentions behind my tag just like I knew the intentions when people were calling me that BEFORE I put it on my tag. So no, I will not take responsibility for those who CHOOSE to take it the wrong way. Instead of anonymously complaining about it on a blog, why don't you just ask what the intent was. For example, my tag could've read ILUVTOFU!! My INTENT is to express how much I Love TOFU (which I do)!! But, feel free to blame me when you choose to take it the wrong way. Because it's obviously my fault that you're dirty-minded and I clearly have no respect for myself (again I'm being sarcastic, I feel the need to keep pointing this out as to not be taken literally). In the end, this is a blog and a lose lose situation. Everyone is entitled to their opinion. So if everyone feels that way, so be it and I concede. I'll take responsibility and the fault for making you choose to take something the wrong way. So, I apologize for my inflammatory rhetoric in regards to my tag!! I do this as I'm SCREAMING expletives at my computer!!
