Center Precinct To Be Eliminated?

Here it comes… so get ready.

Everyone needs to pay close attention…

The BOC has told the Chief that the police department needs to cut it’s budget…how do you accomplish this? Well it’s all in the numbers. With the shortage of officers and the fact that no new officers are being hired, and the fact that we’re in the process of loosing more officers a plan has come up to eliminate a precinct. You heard right, a precinct…

Now since the formation of the City of Brookhaven is pretty much a done deal and the county has no plan to try and stop or resolve the issues and to stop the bleeding of financial funds within the county North Precinct is going to be relocated. A location has apparently already been worked out, which incidentally will be inside the city limits of Brookhaven.

The plan calls for eliminating Center Precinct…yep that’s right Center Precinct.

Apparently North, with it’s new location would absorb the northern most territories of Center and the remaining territories would be picked up by the other 3 precincts. There would be an increase of officers from Center Precinct spread out to the remaining precincts to give more coverage. In addition to eliminating a precinct you also save by doing away with a Major’s position, saving the county more money. And you put the staff and the aides back out onto the road to help with call volume. The citizens of DeKalb would see more officers on the road, a selling point for the BOC.

The second part is Special Operations would move into the old Center Precinct area at HQ.

All you have to do is look into your own backyard because this has already happened.

It happened to Fulton County PD. It’s almost a carbon copy due to all of the new cities that formed in the north end of that county and the same thing is happening here…so get prepared…, and remember…

It’s all about the numbers to the BOC!!! …. And it’s an election year!!!

Fred

Has anyone put Higgy Baby on suicide watch?

Why wouldnt the newest Major be considered for demotion? If they are on probation and there is an unexpected change in the chain of command, seems to me they should demote the new and reassign the most senior Major. Im just saying.....

Oh you don't have to worry about Higgy Baby!

The idea that the BOC has told , sugessted or even met with the Chief regarding the closing of a precint is assinine, stupid and just wrong.
Once again this site posts anything that will rile up the malcontents.
The meeting with the BOC budget committee is not until February 16th at 1 PM
5th floor of 1300.
The "plan" has not even been reviewed by the BOC committees. The budget proposal is the CEO's and his trusty side kick Wiz.

If this is true, it's absolutely insane. First and foremost, Tucker precinct does not need any more territory. Second if a precinct is going to be eliminated, why not make it north precinct? If there is going to be so little of north left due to Dunwoody and Brookhaven, why not just give them the remaining territory and place the north officers in remaining precincts? Oh wait am I making sense? I should shut up...

Its so obvious that the Blog Master needs to rely on credible info before posting it....This really came out of left field and someone must've been drinking when they wrote it....really now..do you expect us to believe this stupid sh!t.

Higgy don't you worry, there's always a place for you somewhere. You can be the major in charge of putting gas in the last remaining Magic Bus. If they sell that you can always ride shotgun with Donnie if still ain't mad at ya Budddyyyy.

Don't forget to thank Vermin and Ellis for putting both us citizens and you DKPD in this pathetic position.

Anonymous said...

Fred you're a f&@$ing idiot, some people really just try to start $hit.

It would make more sense to close the North Precinct as another poster said on here. With the cityhoods and annexations going on, its time to look at moving whose left to other precinct. At one time, I remember hearing or reading that both Tucker and the South Precinct were the busiest. Giving south a larger area will not help their situation at all. Maybe we can finally convert the South Dekalb Mall Toys R Us into the new precinct as was promised for years.

This is a great idea and shows that the BOC is making progress toward a more balanced budget.

Make the PD and the county leaner and more efficient.

Cuts need to be applied across the board. Get over yourselves and face reality........

Looks like the Blog Master has an ax to girnd with Higzilla. Whats up with that lil buddy?

When are you blog writers going to learn how to spell? I read this column almost daily and it amazes me to see how many of you can't SPELL.

So before you critque someone, go back to school and learn how to spell and don't remain as an idiot !!

True or not, great idea!!! It would cut the budget. Technically north would be getting dissolved, only to rename Center precinct, north. This county used to be 4 precincts, they can go back to it. There is going to be even less territory to cover and it only makes sense to do this.

@ 943 am.

If you are going to complain about spelling, maybe you should proof read. It is spelled "critique" not critque.

I'm getting the hell out of this department I've been trying hard to fight the good fight and ignore the negativity we face from all sides I take pride in my job but this county has really just pushed me over the edge. I will be joining the ranks of the rest of the good officers who jumped this sinking ship. FYI fellow officers the grass is greener on the other side don't listen to the lies about its the same everywhere it really is better anywhere compared to Dekalb.

Gee why not get rid of north since it will no longer have anything to patrol. Then move them to Center ( the house that Higgy built) give them all lasers and start collecting some real money to help get the County out of the red ! Crime what crime? At least let them collect fees on business that dont have a business permit... Ok now KEN C or whoever can you check and see if what I heard today is true..#1 DEKALB COUNTY has around or over 300 emploees making $150,000.00 a year. Please tell me thats not true ! We provide services we dont make a profit on any goods or services we sell so how can they get that much a year? ... #2. ( The Juvinile Court building ) The reason there is unhealthy air in or not properly heated or the AC not working is because the DEKALB COUNTY has not paid the contractor's bill of almost half a million dollars. Now not sure if that is totally for the building or not but hear the employees over there are getting no answers from the county or relief for that matter. What the hell does someone need to do drop over from some airborne spores that have travel to their lungs. The hell with the ground hog General Lee we all can be assured of 6 more weeks or years of mismanagemnt by the crooked county goverment. Does everyone have to get a cut before the bills are paid. Next thing you know they will be directing employees to go to someones basement and order shirts so all the finace friends can get a cut and the officers/dets pay more...... WAIT THAT ALREADY HAPPENS...poor poor DKPD ! PS I like Higdon I think he does a good job.

If you think that there is a need for North Prect you are crazy. When the next city starts there will be no reason to drive past Buford hwy. Doraville and Chamblee will claim what little Brookhaven/Ashford won't. Gety your head out of the sand.

Higgy Baby for CEO.

Anonymous said...

Fulton County PD will probably be extinct in the next five years or so given annexations going on in South Fulton and the mumblings of the cityhood referendum coming back to life. You can't operate an effective police department knowing your future is uncertain. DKPD merge with DKSO and cut your losses.

The House that Higgy built? Man please! He can't hold spit compared to John Huey.

John Huey was a cop and a leader who didn't take crap from nobody. He lead by example.

You would never catch Huey double dipping or unshaven.

Then you have Higgy.

Huey was a blow hard.
To anon 7:10, you're right, it is about time to be making cuts. Like cutting out fleet maintenance. Then cutting the CEOs staff and the budget for both the CEO and BOC, instead of increasing both. While we're at it, let's do away with the car allowance that the CEO and BOC give to their staffs. Then let's do away with the daily catered lunches that they have. Hey, we're all in this together, aren't we. Since they have been shafting the employees for years, why not give them the golden weanie.

WTF is wrong with DeKalb said...

Anybody else see this and think to themselves "Why bother even trying?"

Trivia.... If I were Higzilla and I told you to meet me by a certain type of tree to feed my precinct cats what type of tree would I meet you by?

A: A fig tree
B: A apple tree
C: A pine tree
D: A oak tree
E: None of the above

Hint: G8 Summit

Winner gets a cracker I mean cookie

Agreed Huey was a legend in his own mind. I never saw anything from him but running his pie hole then buckling over as soon as one of his subordinates took his advice and got in trouble for trying to please him. The worse of the worst.

Chamblee has already met to consider picking up the remaining areas between them and Brookhaven. Doraville will follow suit around sphagetti junction area as well. Why in the hell would you build a new North precinct. Did anyone think that they might be building it to pass to Brookhaven as an inside deal. North should be dissolved if the in-corporations go ahead. Its only a couple of miles from central to I-85 or what will be the north end of the county soon. As for extra units and priorities how bout 3 calls pending the other day and 3 units working the school zone at Shallowford. We are definitely on a sinking ship guys and girls. Did anyone ever think that our CEO might not be fighting the formation of Brookhaven because his law firm might be or going to be handling some of the deal?

Anonymous said...

Wow I must of missed something was the original post about Center Precinct being closed or about Major Higdon? Riddle me this Mr. Blog Master what is your hidden agenda here, dragging one of your own through the mud or making DKPD a better place. I agree you have some sort of ax to grind.

Anonymous said...

Ya'll need to get out of Higgys grill.
Higgy Baby is the man.
Now on a serious note. Who in the hell are these people talking about Huey? If you have something to say about him then you without a doubt are a fool. That guy was a real cop. A real supervisor with tons of knowledge. He was someone you could rely on to do his job and lead.
You need to shut your own pie hole.
If you have an ax to grind about Huey then you obviously didn't know how to do your job. Ask officers that worked for him and you will see that. You didn't do yours so he rode your ass. Quit, shut up , get out of the way or just do your damn job.

The BOC sees the writing on the wall. They know half of Dekalb is going to look like North Fulton with all its new PD's.

Wouldnt be surprised to see a Tucker PD.

City of Lilburn last year looked into annexing much of Smoke Rise / Stone Mountain and parts of unincorporated Gwinnett making Lilburn the largest city in Gwinnett and the newest in Dekalb.

These ideas are out there and the state legislature has no problem punishing the democrats who had run Dekalb govt into the ground.

You obviously worship Huey. More power to ya. Do you have a life size poster of him affixed to the ceiling above your bed?

Cut the budget?

The CEO is an incompetent idiot and the BOC is not much better. But while this is true it still does not excuse some of the excess and waste that goes on in our own department. We are sometimes our own worse enemy. I have not been here as long as some veterans but I see what I see!
When Major Stathis was still here at East Precinct he had two cars assigned to him. That’s right. TWO! A marked patrol unit and his unmarked car. While precinct officers could not find a unit to answer 911 calls this 30 year veteran is showing leadership by having TWO brand new cars assigned to him.
We were told that when Bolton left that this type of thing would no longer be tolerated. Chief O’Brien said those days were behind us but I call B.S. on that because I see what I see!
We want or hope for a take home car in uniform some day but it is never going to happen. The Captain and the Lieutenant in narcotics both drive high end luxury cars that were probably seized. Doesn’t the Captain there also have a brand new Impala like the other Captains? I say he does but that is not good enough, because he has to be a big baller and drive a luxury car PLUS a Captain’s car. These officers have two cars assigned to them but others can not even get one car. And the Chiefs around this place still can not understand why the bad attitudes here.
I say before we point our fingers at the CEO and the BOC we should do a little housecleaning around our own police department. A lot of rule violations going on with people taking more than they are entitled to but I don’t see the Chiefs doing anything about it.

To anon 12:04...you have no idea what you're talking about.

Anonymous said...

I think Anon 12:04 just hit the x. We are our own worst enemies. Li'l Man DID have a Lt. car assigned to him at East so that he could work his part time at the CDC, usually when he was scheduled to be at his desk, booster chair and all. Now I know that lieutenants and above aren't held to as tight a schedule as sergeants and patrolmen, but to rework your schedule to allow for an extra job looks terrible. But that was one of the many things that The Dwarf was famous for. That and allowing the precinct secretary and admin chick to run the place. Always made me wonder how a sworn officer, not to mention a supervisor, is required to answer to an MPO admin puke or a phuquing secretary. Thankfully, things have mostly changed but the statement is accurate. We can't stand together for crap. If we did, we would not be treated like this.

Anonymous said...

Anon 9:06

Would you care to elaborate about 12:04? You give an 8 word response and that is it? That sounds like the same arrogant shit that Bolton and his followers would say. Never really denying the allegation but just throw a stone toward the accuser. At least 12:04 had a few details. What do you have? He is a rookie so he can’t know what he is talking about. He is in Uniform so he doesn’t understand the complicated and top secret world of CID. That is why people can not stand you arrogant ass-wipes. Maybe you are a friend of Stathis or more likely one of the turds who has two cars assigned to him and was hoping that the Chief does not find out.

I wrote the house that Higgy built as a little joke get over it. The real issue was my points #1 and #2. I have no pull with the news so Ken C or blogmaster help out on both issues PLEZ ! ! ! Now for the half pint STAH-ASS he drove that county car to his Dunwoody church for years saving his ass some gas money. Was it because he was always on call? Ha Ha. But he was always the first one to try to stick an officer for being unethical takes one to know one.

Anonymous said...

Sooooo if no new officers are going to be hired why put all those "potential recruits" through months of waiting just to ultimately shut down an entire precinct? Come on Man!
