In-service has started back, We are being told you better bring a jacket or a fan because the class rooms have no heat or air. Bring your lunch and wear your weapon. It is being held at Atlanta Metropolitan State  college. The question comes to mind why could we not have In-service in our own county.

The Captain at the college is former Dekalb Lt. She resigned under I.A. investigation dealing with her fiancé committing a murder. She also donated a kidney to assistant Director Moses son years ago. I am sure we are paying for the use of the rooms at the college, someone is reaping the rewards.

You are telling me as much property and buildings that Dekalb County owns or rents we could not find a place in our own county to have training for our own officers.

Now that Capt. Williams is not in training maybe we can get some real Instructors in training,

So we are going to pay for a classroom two counties away to have In-service training in a high crime area where officers are told do not leave any valuables or weapons in your vehicle and wear your gun on you all day. The corruption and dirty politics is right in your face. No heat no air no place to eat. Come work for a Dekalb where we care about our officers, where we treat them like garbage and give them some of the worst training in the state. We change rules and regulations depending on who you are or who you know.

Only officers are having to attend the In-service tracing anyone with rank only have to attend a one day class.

In-service sucks this year, you can tell not a lot of thought went into what we were going to do. The instructors are clueless about the topics and the supervisors in training really need to get over themselves. I can’t do 10 more years of this shit.

Based on the comments it appears that nothing is being done right in the police department., or it is filled with a bunch of self centered crybabies who do not like to work hard and are jealous of others in authority. Maybe the Sherriff needs to petition the Governor to just take over the whole damn thing.

Dekalb has some of the best officers in the Metro area, the problem is the officers are overworked, u derpaid and unappreciated. Pay them right, treat them right and give them good benefits and show them you support them and they will run through hell for you. I know this first hand my unit I commanded did this for me as I did for them.

Traffic getting to In-service sucks going to and from ....why may I ask are we on the other side of Atlanta for training.

At the end of the day, line officers handle everything anyway. They resolve the actual call/problem, the Sgt clears on the call, the Lt tallies the stats at the end of the day, not sure what the Capt & Maj do (besides stalk the Patriots) so keep on doing the REAL work guys and hold your head high. You are very much appreciated by those in the know.

WTH happened to the training division? Where are the hard core instructors?

Why such separatists in the ranks now. When I was there many moons ago, the citizens were the priority and a no call pending policy was in place. Pending calls were assigned right up the chain of command as is case in most agencies.

You ask why such a separatist in the ranks now....well I'll tell you. It's an us & them mentality among the ranks, "well at least for the White Shirts". Ole "Buster Brown" Padrick & a few others decided that there needed to be division within the department and decided on different uniforms for Supervisors and the common officer...The GOLD patches & the SILVER patches...dumbest freakin thing I've ever heard of in a police department....To HELL with us all being DKPD and identifying officers based on Rank Insignia but we have to take it a step further than just a Gold Badge and a Silver Badge.
Now we have the Gold Patch and the Silver Patch, looks like a bunch of Wal-Mart security guard rejects walking around who can't decide on what uniform to wear for the day. No standard uniform at all...There will never be solidarity in this department again...those days are long gone because of the idiots in charge now. It's hard to believe there is a building large enough to contain all of the inflated EGO's walking around the place and get them all in a room together....looks like a 3 Ring Circus.
Only in DEKALB!!

To all higher ranking officers: Please by all means stop putting officers in training just because they have an IT cert. You need to put officers who go out make good cases, answers his or her calls, gets along with others, and gives a dam about doing a good job. For example the best FTOs make the best training officers(IT cert). Please stop putting less than quality officers in training. We do have females that can do the job and some males. Its not hard to figure who there are. How can you teach defensive tactics when you never got into a physical altercation on the road( cause you always went the other way). Just because you have the power and the pull stop putting anybody in training. ..................I pray this department succeeds.........Retired Real thankful officer

In-service is a joke, let’s do shooting from a vehicle and use a crown Vic when most of us are driving Tahoe’s, you can’t shoot over the top of a door on a Tahoe. No thought is put into training, they are only worried about telling war stories that are not true and making sure you show up on time.

Hmmm. It really doesn't matter what vehicle you shoot over. You may be pinned down behind a ford pinto. You Obviously have never been in a shooting before. Its supposed to be practice. You cant ever predict anything outside of training. That's what the meaning is....TRAINING lol.

Current officer not in training

No thank God I have not been involved in a shooting while poling in Dekalb, however I have been involved in three firefights in Afghanistan, we trained almost daily for several different situations and possibilities. Any type of training is good, when in a high stress situation you revert to training and muscle memory, I was simply pointing out the fact the department is almost all suv police vehicles and it does not make sense to attempt to fire over the door. Does not seem logical or that a lot of thought went into the training. But Dekalb knows best I guess.

Are you referring to the sheriff that got pinched by APD for soliciting oral sex from the vice detective?

Wonder where the NOBLE connection is on this deal?

Little ACC (Athens-Clarke County) has in service classes almost daily and the participants may choose the times. Realizing that many are coming off the graveyard shift, they furnish coffee, other drinks and snacks free of charge.
DeKalb cheapskate County never gives anything to any employee, except in the past when they sent their kiss asses to the Safety Patrol Week in D.C. We arrested a drunken female nut shrink who attended and gave us the scoop on all that went on there. I could write a book.
DeKalb County is now corrupt? Hell no. They have always been corrupt!
