What's this junk in the follow-up story with the female saying the Sergeant had permission from his supervisor to 59 with her (http://www.cbsatlanta.com/news/19659693/detail.html)...I can just envision that conversation:

Sgt: "Hey Lt, I'm just going to leave the county for a couple hours to watch a movie with a lady friend."

Lt: "Have fun! Just make sure to clear on your calls...and be sure you don't get caught on tape by a private dick!"

Sounds like a big pile o' BRAVO SIERRA!

Those were pretty LAME RESPONSES from Wiz and Bill. The guy was in uniform and in a marked car. He was on duty wether technically or not. On top of that the guy is a pure dumb ass plain and simple. Call it llike it is boy's ! ALL police problem are a result of A LACK OF SUPERVISION. O'Brien knows this for a fact ! If the officer was a Sgt, his Lt is responsible too, pure and simple. If he is an officer both he and his Sgt or OIC and Lt are responsible but mostly the sgt depending on the situatuion. You would think that DKPD would at this point be sick and tired of negative news. I sure as hell am sick and tired of EMBARRASSING NEGATIVE NEWS! Tarnish my badge and be fired and prosecuted is my motto.
A supervision enema is now in play.

Yes, Director Miller. It could happen in any working environment but police work is not just another working environment. The police are representatives of authority, and of our government. They have extraordinary power and authority. This is different than a regular job and any supervisor that does not understand this...well I just dont know....Another big mess at DKPD. I'm ashamed.

They just got caught doing what many others have been doing for years. Another poor wife at home taking care of his kids finds out her police officer husband is cheating AGAIN!

Question.... When do these officers, the Sgt and the huge number involved in the South Precinct story, find the time to "engage in personal activities"?

My supervisors demand productivity.

Are they turning in Activity Sheets that are fraudulent? That's another part of the story that needs to be investigated.

What do their PO/Activity Sheets show for the time they were "screwing around" on county time? Do they show that they were they doing Business or House Checks during that time period?

Just when you think you've seen and/or heard it all.....

They've brought Dishonor to us all!

The good officers, which is 99.98% will just look down, shake their heads in disgust and embarassment....again .....and move on and continue doing a good job for the citizens of Dekalb. Believe me, we are just as disgusted at this and the other stuff as the joe on the street.

Who are these officers? As a rule, this blog never hesitates exposing the individuals who bring shame to our dept. as well as our county. Would like to see their names published. To the good men and women protecting us here in DeKalb: we will continue to stand behind you both within our communities as well as at the BOC meetings. Never think you are not appreciated by those of us who really care.

And this is our new Public Safety Director speaking on behalf of the department? Please! and I had such high hopes and strong support for him. Surely he could come across better than this. After all, the poster is right, this CAN and DOES happen in other work environments but can't he see that our public safety dept. is not just any other work environment? That this type of behavior is what we have had shoved down our throats continuously throughout the Jones and Bolton administration. What does it take to wake up our higher ups that John Q Public did not fall off the turnip truck this morning and with all the bad press we have had generated by the unethical and unprofessional actions of so many others within our departments these kind of lame public explanations are not what we would expect from those appointed by CEO Ellis.

I for one am getting pretty sick of all the higher calling, public trust, and other comments made by those of you who feel that you are above making a bad choice in judgement. I would like to think that if you were in the same situation, you would like some sense of solidarity from your "fellow" officers. Whoever made the comment about firing and prosecuting can take a leap off the podium he or she is preaching from. Is is right what they did? NO! But criminal? Take a minute to think about it. Are we going to charge them with fornication? I think it's still on the books. Suspend, transfer, kick them in the ass for being stupid, but let's move on and worry about the people doing the real perp activities out there. Those are the ones that we should worry about. I would also hope that the quality of officer and their past good deeds would be taken into account in a situation like this. I know all parties involved in this and at least two of them have worked hard and done an amazing job in their time here at DKPD. As I recall, one of them pulled some stupid citizen who was 26iii from a burning car after an accident. Let's not all take the IA standpoint and disregard 9 good deeds for 1 bad one.

How about violation of oath of office. Theft of county time. It was a pure lousey example and more negative crap we don't need. Get real pal.I was speaking in general terms not entirely specific to this incident.

Who is the Sgt??

How does Harry know the officer did not go and have dinner?

FLSA requires that employees receive a 30 min lunch and two 15 minute breaks during an 8 hours shift. Seeing as though the Sgt. was working a 10 hours shift, I guess he gets a little longer break.

Lighten up guys, what he does during his lunch break is his business. I'm sure he was stil available for calls.

For those interested in knowing the names of the people involved, CBS46 ran a story today (Friday) that showed their names and pictures, so I think it should be alright to list them here.

Gregory Rivera was the officer from South Precinct who was on-duty while having sex with an off-duty officer. Rivera is also the one who had a cadet wait in his car while he did his business inside.

Corey Lowe Williams was the off-duty officer from South Precinct who Rivera had sex with.

Rivera and Williams were terminated.

Sgt. Walter West from South Precinct was demoted for sexual misconduct, allegedly not related to the Rivera/Williams situation.

The North Precinct Sgt. still hasn't been identified by the media, so I'll wait to say anything about him. However you can look at the video and see everything but his face, and also see the date and time of the incident. So if you know anything about North Precinct you'll probably know who it is.

It is sad to see one of your brothers or sisters make a bad decision. But truth is, we all have made bad decisions at some point in time. We are human. We hopefully learn from those bad decisions and become better for it. But the saddest part of all of this is seeing your best friends, brothers, & sisters turn your backs on each other. There is NO honor these days. When you see your friend making a bad decision, be honorable. Fight for them. Fight with them. Don't turn your back on them. These officers made a bad decision. Stand by them and help them get through it. Be a team. Don't throw stones. Don't judge. Pick em up, and move on.

Before we throw the sergeant under the bus, maybe we should consider the players involved: a pissed-off EX husband who has a history of behavior issues (shaved off ALL of your facial hair lately so those bad boys in Major Felony will picking on you, Dave?), a PI that was fired from the Department for falsehoods at IA, and a news media that hates us anyway. It is plenty juicy, but I am gonna wait until it is all said and done at the precinct before I judge.

And DKPD wonders why other agencies laugh at them?? What you guys trying to do--outshine Atlanta Police in malfeasance and incompetence.

What if, in fact, the sergeant was given permission for the visit by his Lt and it turns out that no schtupping occurred? What if the sergeant is cleared by IA? Is anyone going to accept the results of the investigation, or do we all just want a lynching to occur, regardless of the facts? I wonder how many of us will actually apologize to the sergeant once this is over.

Things are not always what they appear, and Im told this North story is nothing more than a revenge act by an exhusband who works for another dept. Why hold a story for over 6 months if it is so important is my question.
Personally I know the North Sgt and feel comfortable in saying that I would work for him anyday. He is one of the best around and I know many of officers that would agree.
Now if he is found to be quilty of any wrong doing I would be surprised to say the least. I have known him for over 15 years now and have never heard of him mistreating any officer, he is firm but very fair.
With that being said I also know the one making the allegations, and would be willing to say that he has done more damage to himself and his family than to the Sgt.
I only hope that the truth would come out, and given a fair investigation I beleive that it will.

Let me preface this by saying I don't know anything about the allegations made against anyone about sex on or off duty. That being said, WAY TO GO CBS46 FOR SCREWING UP ANOTHER STORY!!! No wonder you guys are a distant 3rd or 4th to Channel 2 and 5 news! West is a WHITE NORTH PRECINCT SGT?? I had no idea!!! Maybe that's because he isn't white and doesn't work north precinct!!

If you guys at CBS46 were trying to redeem yourselves for sitting on the "Keisha Williams drinking and driving in a county unit for 9 months" story...you seriously f-ed it up!!

You guys had a GREAT story, but you sat on it and screwed it up. So how do you follow that up?? By screwing up this story! Way to go!!

"Tomorrow night on CBS46, see our story on South Africa's President, Kim Jong Ill's quest to be the first South American country to land a man on the moon!"
